Publisher's Summary

The ultimate secret. The ultimate agent. The President's vampire. Zach Barrows is an ambitious young White House staffer whose career takes an unexpected turn when he's partnered with Nathaniel Cade, a secret agent sworn to protect the President. But Cade is no ordinary civil servant. Bound by a special blood oath, he is a vampire. Cade battles nightmares before they can break into the daylight world of the American dream, enemies far stranger-and far more dangerous-than civilians have ever imagined. Blood Oath is the first in a series of novels featuring Nathaniel Cade-the President's vampire.

I first read Killfile by the same author and thought it pretty good brain candy. So I was glad the author had more books and bought this one. Definitely not as good...Farnsworth has grown as a writer between the two books. I'd consider buying any new releases but have no desire, based on Blood Oath, to read the other two books in that series.

    "Surprisingly Engaging and Well-Narrated"

It may be hard to believe that there is still something new to say about vampires, but this book is, indeed, a new take. Here, the vampire is not a sparkly babe magnet nor is he a minion of darkness. Instead, he is just a differently gifted civil servant trying to get the job done. The story is interesting and taut -- there are no ponderous slack moments or tedious world-building. Bronson Pinchot's narration is, as usual, perfect for the story.

    "Surprisingly Good"

At first glance this read looked silly but I did give it a try anyway. I was pleasantly surprised at how much I enjoyed this book! Good narrator too!

    "Good Book, Great Performance"

Blood Oath is sort of Larry Correia lite, even sharing a narrator (Bronson Pinchot) with Correia's "Spellbound" series (as well as "Dead Six"). It's a palatable take on the whole "monsters among us" genre of fantasy fiction. Our window into this world is Zach, a mid-tier Whitehouse staffer with a new job babysitting the President's supernatural secret agent vampire. Hey ... buy the premise, buy the bit. The mythology is fun, salted with enough humor and bloodshed make a nice story, possibly even a good series. The biggest selling point is Bronson Pinchot who remains one of my favorite Audible narrators. He just has the right voice and tone for this type of tale. Recommended.

This would be a five star review if Zack did not whine constantly! Cade has the patience of a saint.

    "Loved it-mostly."

This was a book I finished in almost record time. Action packed. Great narration - Pinchot is perhaps my favorite narrator. Great story line. The villains were truly villains, but the hero is also somewhat of a villain & openly acknowledges that. The only thing I didn't like was the taking of my God's name in vain a number of times. I found that both unnecessary & very offensive. No one takes Allah's name in vain. Or anyone else's God, so why the Christian God? I won't turn this into a sermon. It & the couple of graphic sex scenes (I love the jump forward button) were the only bad parts of the book. Well worth a listen.

"Very good. Well written and narrated!"

Fantastic imagination! A vampire specially for the President of America. The idea really boggles the mind. I also like Zack, his young human partner. Bronson Pinchot of course is the best narrator for this book and he does his best as always. I enjoyed the action throughout and am going to start on the next book immediately.

I am downloading the next in the series at this moment! I am a fan of Bronson Pinchot's narration but this was not up to his normal level of work. Still definitely worth a listen..

"Bloody good start to a new series"

An enjoyable start to a new series. Truly enjoyed the new take on the classic movie monsters and the impact and interaction in a post 9/11 world seemed very believable in the story telling. Downside it took me a while to get over the narrator's voice but once I got sucked into the story I didn't even notice or mind how irritating some of the characters' voices were.
