Publisher's Summary

Set at the heart of political power in Washington, DC, Absolute Power was the novel which launched David Baldacci's career as a worldwide best seller of thrilling fiction. The movie, starring Clint Eastwood, was a major box office success across the world.

In a heavily guarded mansion in the Virginian countryside, professional burglar and break-in artist Luther Whitney is trapped behind a one-way mirror. What he witnesses destroys his faith in not only justice but all he holds dear.

What follows is an unthinkable abuse of power and a criminal conspiracy, as a breathtaking cover-up is set in motion by those appointed to work for one of the most important people in the world - the president of the United States.

Nice listen.

This was the book that began david baldacci's writing career and you can see why he is one of the best at what he does. Great action thrillers. I was so happy to see that audible finally had this book to download. Scott does another great job of narrating this book. If you want a good listen then this is the book for you.

un-put-downable

If you could sum up Absolute Power in three words, what would they be?

Suspense, rivetting, superb

Who was your favorite character and why?

Luther - a caring, good, bad guy

What about Scott Brick’s performance did you like?

Everything.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Absolutely. I couldn't wait to get back to it, every time I had to take a break.

Any additional comments?

The best book I have listened to for a long time.

Good story but...

Scott bricks narration was excellent as always and the story was good, however the daughter of Luther Whitney was so irritating that I almost gave up on the book every time she entered the story. I also could have done without the flag waving and orchestra at the end. A real shame.

Worth a listen but the narrator was annoying

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

I wouldn't rave about it but I wouldn't discourage a friend from reading it. It is a non too demanding read with a few decent twists and turns.

What other book might you compare Absolute Power to, and why?

It is a bit like a Grisham style - not very gritty and all fitting into place a bit too neatly.

Would you listen to another book narrated by Scott Brick?

I'm sorry but I would consider NOT listening to a book if he was narrating it. His voice sounded too patronizing.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

No. In the end I wanted to just get to the end of it because I was bored of it.

Great story but at points slow

I'm a keen David Baldacci fan but this one was just slow. Normally I'm finding excuses to keep listening but one occasion I had to work at finishing it. However the short story at the end was clever and great treat.
