Publisher's Summary

A child disappears. A foster mother faces an impossible choice. A baby’s future hangs in the balance.

When Deb Moerke and her husband decided to become foster parents, they never imagined how their lives would change. And never did they imagine their worst nightmare coming true: Their five-year-old foster daughter, Hannah, murdered at the hands of her birth mom, Karen.

The Moerkes were overwhelmed with horror and grief. And just when they didn’t think they could bear any more, Deb received a phone call from Karen in prison. Facing a life sentence for Hannah’s murder, she was pregnant. And Karen had an incredible request: Would Deb take her unborn baby in and love it as her own?

How would you respond? Could you show God’s love to someone who had hurt you and taken away everything you held dear?

Murder, Motherhood, and Miraculous Grace is an unbelievable true story of faith, family, and a journey toward seemingly impossible forgiveness. A story that tests the limits of the human heart, it’s ultimately a beautiful, life-affirming testament to how unconditional love and relentless obedience can transform even the darkest of nights into mornings of hope.

Not my style

This book should be under religious/spirituality! The story would be interesting, however, it was more about church, And god than anything else! I couldn’t handle the constant preaching and quoting scripture.

Inspiring

Really enjoyed this book. Though heartbreaking at times, it spoke to the transforming power of God in a believer’s life, and of God’s ability to use one obedient to Him.

Powerful

This book is a powerful read of love and forgiveness. It tells the story of Debra, who is faced with unfathomable pain and, despite judgment and loss of her own reputation, chose forgiveness. I love that it is a true story from the town of Casper, WY... I was born there and have a lot of family still there. The places she describes are familiar. Kudos to this author and her family!

Sad but Refreshing

This book was a little bit preachy, but it is refreshing to see an audible selection that views faith as a positive thing. Overall, it’s an interesting story.

Debra Moerke’s amazing book reflects the heart of God to help and people through the challenges and joys of life.

Although the narrator performed the reading well, it was distracting that Debra’s last name was mispronounced throughout the book. Would it be possible to edit this error with a voice over recording?
Murder, Motherhood, and Miraculous Grace is an incredible, life-changing story of walking through heartbreaking circumstances with the strength, forgiveness and grace of God.

a book of hope

This is a heartbreaking story but one which show how pain can be balanced with joy and love with hate. Well worth the read. It is a healing book full of hope. The narrator is fast becoming a favourite of mine.

God

Far to many references about the lord, god,Christianity. We get it. You just don’t need to reference it in every third sentence.

I enjoyed listening to this book

Although I enjoyed listening to this book I felt the author was too over powering with her religion.

Interesting story but too much God

A really interesting real story, very sad and emotive. However, there is WAY too much talk about God for me. I have read many other similar books where the author has faith in God but manages to present it in a way that isn't off putting to atheists. It felt like it was written for the super religious only. It came across as very preachy. I felt the anti abortion rhetoric was unnecessary and made me really cross. These factors massively detract from what is an interesting subject

God’s Grace is all around inside this book!

This book has definitely touched my heart and taught me so many things. In this book I could see God’s hand and His grace so clearly in all events, big and small. Surely God is sovereign and He works all things for the good of those who love Him!

Thank you Debra for obeying God and writing this awesome story down. Thank you Marguerite for such an engaging audio! Would recommend it to everyone!

Families' lives are barely without incident but Deb's life is full in every sense of the word. How God's grace and provision is supplied for Deb is remarkable.
