Publisher's summary

My old high school crush is my boss, my unexpected roommate -
And now my Baby Daddy...

As the receptionist at a cozy B&B nestled in the mountains,
I'd heard rumors that the owner is a mysterious billionaire.
Turns out he's Alex Mason, the hot football player from high school whom I couldn’t get over.

He appears out of nowhere, my teen-dream in the flesh.
Big muscles, slick tattoos, and a beard that could make a nun rethink her life choices.
He demands a room.

But it's spring break, and we're fully booked.
With the 'No Vacancy' sign burning bright, I've got no choice but to offer to share mine.
Just for one night, he assures.

By day, he's the boss with a scowl, all gruff commands.
By night, the suit comes off, and 'Mr. Alphahole' shows me just how bossy he can get.
One accidental 'oops' later, and we're on a one-way trip to 'oh baby'.

And now I’ve got to tell Mr. “It's-just-casual" that he’s going to be a daddy.

Emily and Alex

Emily runs the B&B, and the inn is full. Alex’s car breaks down, and he insists upon a room at the inn. Originally unknown to Emily, Alex owns the place. He refuses to stay anywhere other than the inn. As a compromise, Emily invites him to share a couch in her room. His car takes a while to get fixed. Things develop from there. It was a cute short story. Alex is a big overbearing jerk at the start. Emily is so kind, it could be detrimental for her. Alex needed someone like Emily to bring him back down to earth. The story was entertaining. The narration was well done. I received a free copy of this audiobook and an voluntarily leaving my review.

HER MOUNTAIN MAN BOSS

Alex and Emily. He breaks down and has to go to the nearest B&B after calling the tow truck and is excited that he owns it. When he gets there he asks Emily is that what you get paid for is to read on the job. Then there are no rooms. Hes told there are none available and he says check again I own this place. She knows the rooms inside and out so she knows there are no rooms but she has an idea and is grateful she is given a room with the job so she tells him give her a moment and she will ready a room for him. While waiting he sees her with a guest and how happy she made him. He cant think if where hes seen her and then it hits him she went to the same school as him he was a jock and she was a nerd. He then calls the towing company to inquire about his vehicle thinking it should be ready soon and he gets the answer they have other customers and haven't had a chance to look at it yet. Hes furious saying its been there an hour already and they say there are other customers ahead of him and he threatens them with a tip that is dwindling. That should do it money makes things happen. He returns to look out the lobby window when the auto repair calls and they can have it by noon tomorrow and no sooner we will work on it after hours. Hes frustrated and running out of patience and when is his room going to be ready. While getting her room ready she's thinking she knew an Alex in school but he said he would never grow facial hair and this man has a beard and to the hour she hears the bell out front thinking this man has no patience. She shows him to her room and he says about time and when he walks into the room and he frowns, is this it.. yes sir let me know if I can get you anything else. Yes why a fireplace its like from the Victorian era and the wallpaper is snagged and he says its rundown and embarrassing that this the king of room a guest is paying for. Now she frustrated and says this room isn't offered to guests this is my room since there wasn't one available and if you don't like it someone can drive you to the Hampton. This is my place and Ill stay here. Yes I have made the couch for you. He makes me feel judged. He dismisses her he has work to do. She goes back to the desk and picks up her book. At dinner he seats himself and watches her bustle about serving and taking care of the guests. She's talking with a table when another calls her over and she rushes to the kitchen emerging with four more plate and Alex waves her over and she turns arms full saying Ill be right with you and turns and serves the other table. When she turns to take his order he asks if she is Emily Cooper from school yes who are you - Im Alex from football - yes I know you and we spoke a couple times - No we never spoke only had classes together - Yes we did but we did speak a couple times - OK what was the conversation about because I don't remember it, and the only reason she would remember is because she may have had a crush on me and that makes me smile, he also notices that her teeth are straighter and she doesn't wear coke bottle glasses anymore - No need to rehash and how can I help you - No lets go down memory lane and tell me about the conversations - Ok in class you didn't understand the homework assignment so I wrote it down for you - Ok you said several times what's another - Ok you asked me to tell your girlfriend Sophie that if she didn't answer your phone calls you were breaking up with her - Ok I remember asking someone but not who and did you deliver the message - Yes she said she didn't care you were a pain in the a$$ and all you wanted was sex - I was 16 and probably not more on my mind - I assume you've changed - I wouldn't be as successful if I didn't at least have half a brain - Well in high school you didn't - Then why did you like me - Because I was a hormone crazed teenager and you were a hot member of the football team - Did you have any hot fantasies about me - She gaps at him I liked you that doesn't mean I imagined you undressed - What is it about this women that is turning me on and then a guest calls her over before she answers and then she's gone and didn't take my order and think that his stay might be more than he expected. She's so embarrassed she doesn't know he managed to drag all that information out of her. She takes him 2 plates since he didn't order and she will take the other he invites her to sit she doesn't want to but he convinces her and the conversation takes a turn that makes her uncomfortable so she leaves to take care of a guest an older woman and she askes is he your boyfriend - No mamm hes my boss and only staying one night - Oh where I thought there were no more rooms - OMG, there aren't I gave him my room - Where are you staying - Oh I gave him my couch - She's tired of the questions and goes to get her coffee . When she comes out of the kitchen the only one in the dinning hall is the guest so she serves her and goes back to the desk and looks up and he stomps Alex. He went to the library to get work done and has trouble focusing on his work there are two children arguing and the older woman Emily was helping that was asking her questions goes over to Alex and says I hear you are the owner and just want to tell you what a good person Emily is and so helpful and even though I'm a bit old fashioned I understand you are staying with her and yall make a good couple. Now hes upset hes the owner and has a reputation to uphold and she's telling people they are sleeping together. She says I didn't tell anyone that. Then who told the woman I was the owner when you are the only one who knows. Well I did tell a woman that but nothing else. You didn't tell her anything else sounding less sure of the conversation and how it went. You're sure you didn't say anything else maybe my boss is sleeping in my room. There's no excuse about making up rumors about us sleeping together. You did dam. I'm not spreading rumors she asked questions and I answered them Its not my fault she she.... Its your fault you started telling people.... one person.... I cant believe she isn't saying sorry and that she would be so disrespectful I turn and match to my, OUR, room. Nine pm off the clock and hang out in the lobby till ten and go to my, OUR room I have to be up at seven am and hes must hate me not believing what I said. When I enter the room its empty so I read in bed and then I hear the door open I sit up in bed still angry. He asks about extra bottles of toiletries and say in the bathroom under the cabinet nd he cant see them so I have to get out of bed and get them and he says is this a group shower or are you going to give me space so I scurry out and turn on the TV. I cant get him out of my mind and so I put my hands under the sheets and then he calls out to me and he needs a towel when I go to get him one I return and hold my hand out through the door not reaching the counter and then he steps out of the shower and OMG and I hand him the towel and we both are standing there and he grins and moves and I'm frozen. She's so shocked and embarrassed about what just happened she scurries back to bed and goes to sleep. She gets up early the next morning and hes thinking about his work and that he needs to leave. He wonders how she feels about last night He has o regrets but hes sure she does. Hes in the library and gets a call from the auto shop and his car will need ordered parts and wont be ready that day and he panics thinking of being stranded in this small town. Since he has to stay he proposes an agreement of sex without strings. She thinks he doesn't think she's good enough for him or he would say something like lets get to know each other but her mind is saying one thing and her body is saying another. Hes waiting for an answer. What do I really want and say sure I agree. But doubt settles in me and expect a camera is around the corner waiting to say you've been puncked. With the agreement made and a meeting place for right now he all of a sudden moves away from her with all his attention on the parking lot and she wonders I guess this mean with out strings and hears a knock on the side door and opens to a delivery guy with a brown paper bag for Alex and she takes it and he says I have to give it to Mr Mason and she says I've got it and thinks this is what hes looking for. When I give it to him he says its about time very rudely and wonder what I did to deserve this treatment and say sorry for the delay. Cheeze rude much. I'm so irritated and turn away and what have I done to offend him. She's cleaned and now behind the desk and reading her book again and irritated he wonders how much she's being paid to read her book. She's oblivious to work that needs to be done and guests to attend to and responsibilities to fulfill and that's when he gets up and strolls to her and his anger at her lack of productivity and request a word with her telling her hes noticed all her reading when there are guests to attend to and she frowns saying she does her job and here for the guest and makes sure all runs smoothly yes but what about the projects that dedication and attention and proactively its my responsibility to make sure everyone is pulling their weight and now Im not seeing that from you. Look around and tell me what needs to be done. When he tells her a couple things she gets up muttering to herself and hes satisfied he got through to her and goes back
to looking at the files of business reports to decide who he will back as a company when he hears two women coming down the stairs talking about how bossy he is and arguing in such a peaceful place for a vacation and also heard hes staying in her room because there's no other rooms available. Now hes made and thinks this is her fault for not doing her job in the first place and goes to find her and berates her about sharing too much of her personal life with the guests and that their personal matters should stay personal. WHAT A JERK. He seems to dislike me as a person. He just watches me clean after the dinner meal and its like hes watching for me to do something wrong. He makes me feel insecure. When she goes to her room he comments on how hes noticed how much harder she's been working. Now she's dedicated and he admires her. What does he want he doesn't do compliments. Then he takes my wrist and tugs me to my bedroom and says do you remember our deal from earlier. AFTER ALL HIS BERATMENTS SHES ACTUALLY GOING TO KEEP THEIR DEAL. She thinks for now hes mine and she's taking advantage of it.
What a story. She's not rude but professional and hes rude and arrogant you want to strangle him. I guess I have set the story Full of passion misunderstandings and guarded moments and so so much more adventurous actions.

grumpy

Amazing dual narration from Michael Parker and Glinda Stone

Emily has just finished her jobs at the B&B and is now sitting behind the reception desk, reading her. But her peace is broken by a big grumpy, blue eyed suited man. Alex’s car breaks down in a small town, where one of the B&Bs he owns is. He demands a room even though there are no rooms available. Emily, is very calm and offers him a room. It is her room. Alex is first not impressed , until Emily tells him again, it this is or a hotel chain. So they end up sharing her room. Both realise that they went to high school together. Alex the jock and Emily the nerd. Alex is grumpy and demanding , while Emily can’t seem to get over her high school crush, both have a attraction to the other and things get steamy. Slowly the deal of benefits only, grows into a very gently and caring friendship and more. Between secrets of the past, interfering parents , gossips and two pink links.
I fell in love with these characters, at first wanting to shout at them, and them shout again. As the characters grow and the characters grow, I fell in love with them. I rooted for them.
The right amount emotions, growth, humour and sexy heat.

super late surprise

Cute story for sure. Alex and Emily knew each other in high school and Alex didn't have the best reputation. years later Emily works at a bed and breakfast in the mountains when a very rude and demanding man walks in throwing his weight around claiming to be the owner of the bed and breakfast. The man of course was none other than Alex.

Mountain Man's Baby Surprise!

This is a good story that I was not sure I would like but ended up thoroughly enjoying the story and the characters. The story begins with Emily, who funs and Bed and breakfast, sitting at the front desk reading. Alex, whose car has broken down, walks in and demands a room, he is the owner of the B&B and will not except there are no rooms available. Needless to say these two DO NOT get off to a good start. They are explosive! Emily is kind and always trying to make the guest comfortable and have a good experience. Alex comes off as arrogant, entitled and pompous. He thinks if the throws money around it will get the job done.

Good Story

This author is new to me and I look forward to reading/ listening to more of her books. I overall enjoyed this story but struggled with the female narration. Alex comes off as a wealthy, demanding and rude man and the male narrator did a great job portraying that. Alex and Emily went to school together. Years later they meet again cause she is working at his bed and breakfast. These two have an immediate dislike for each other that rather quickly turns to more since they are forced together. I liked the storyline and the characters.

Mountain Man's Baby Surprise

Mountain Man's Baby Surprise by Mia Sterling. I really wanted to like this story more than I did. I thought it had good amount of drama, but I just didn’t feel a connection to the characters. Alex came off as rude, arrogant, and frankly just selfish. And Emily’s character was good but lacking. There was definitely a good amount of growth throughout the story, but it did not hold my interest. As a reviewer, I am not going to rate low due to my own personal opinions. I feel others will truly enjoy their story.

fun

What a fun listen! I'm a fan of the alpha mountain man books, and this one did not let me down. I found this contemporary read to be charming and enjoyable to listen to.

Not much to this story....

Not a whole lot of anything with this story. You work at a B&B. A city slicker supposedly a mountain man who cuts some fire wood but not a lot of any type of mountain man since we go back to him being a rich city slicker. The whole story is boring. The voice actors just didn't do it for me. We can't forget she accidentally got pregnant but that's it. Truly nothing spectacular here.

Awkward Romance

The plot here was lacking information and felt a bit rushed. I didn't feel connected or committed to the couple. There were times when Alex's inner dialog was trying to be controlling and possessive in a sexy way and could have been done in a way that felt charismatic and alluring, but it mostly felt like he was lacking respect for Emily or thought of her as less than himself. The sex scenes were awkward and rushed. My least favorite part of this book was the narration. The male narrator didn't pronounce things correctly (example: Infinity was Infinini) and the number of times they say "bed [pause] and breakfast", had me chuckling by the end. I did get a few good laughs out of this book, which gave it an extra star.
