Publisher's summary

The mission was supposed to be simple. Infiltrate an enemy's stronghold outside Rome and eliminate its leader. For a Breed warrior as lethal as Ettore Selvaggio, aka "Savage", stealth assassinations are only one of his many coldhearted specialties. But the last thing Savage expects to find behind enemy lines - in his target's bed - is a woman he once adored.

It's been years since Savage last saw beautiful Arabella Genova. Years he's strived to banish to his past along with the fierce desire he once felt toward Bella...and the irresistible calling of her blood that stirs in him even now, despite the fact that she belongs to another male.

But when fate throws Savage and Bella together again in a race for their lives, will his long-lost love prove to be the one woman he can't live without - or the perfect weapon to destroy him?

Short but enjoyable

As with all of the midnight breed novels, there is a hot romance, a mission for The Order and group of rogue vampires terrorizing a city. There wasn't much interaction with other warriors from the order and I missed it. Hopefully, there will be more of this couple's story in the next Midnight Breed novel. Always an instant download!

too short

This book is a novella. So it feels way too short. That said, it was still a great listen.

Engrossing Series!

Really loved the premise for this one! Loved that Ettore and Bella had a past, love second chance at love stories! This series is very entertaining, and I've really enjoyed each book I've read in this series; which is most of them! This novella has the action and passion just like all the books in this series. The narrator does a great job with the audio, and I'd definitely recommend it. This can be read as a standalone, but I'd recommend reading the whole series to get the full picture; plus it's great! Ettore and Bella are both great, and they have a sweet romance. Loved reading about them reconnecting. Entertaining, quick read!

Midnight Untamed

In this new Midnight Breed novella, Lara Adrian thrills and excites with Savage and Arabella. It’s not a surprise that Adrian hits this out right out of the park. Midnight Untamed maybe be shorter than the other Midnight Breed books, but it is still packed with plenty of action and romance. I’m a big fan of the way Adrian writes her books. There’s no stalling, no waiting time before the story takes off. Savage and Arabella’s story instantly gripped me and I took a particular liking to Savage’s character. I mean, can you say HOT!? Even his name is enough to intrigue me. When Savage is on a job and he recognizes a familiar face, he doesn’t blow it up like he is meant to. Instead, he tries to save Arabella from the bad people that have her. Because she has a special ability, people are hoping to extort that and that makes her powerful. But now, she has become a slave, a piece of property that many want. Savage and Arabella have a past, which is what I think helps this book create a fuller story. If they had just met, I don’t think it would’ve have the same impact. The reason why Arabella is in the hands of the bad guy in the first place is a little cliché and not that unique, but it’s easy to overlook because of Adrian’s expert writing style. There’s no question that this book is well-written. Every words is necessary as is every scene. I can’t think of another author who writes as consistently well as Lara Adrian. Moreover, Midnight Untamed is a novella in the Midnight Breed world. Lara Adrian is able to pack so much into such a short amount of space. Despite only being a novella, you are left feeling complete and satisfied. Each novella features groups of the Order all over the world. The characters and stories normally do not have any impact on the overall arc of the Midnight Breed series, but are SO much fun to get an inkling of what the rest of the Order is up to.

OK book and narration...

Years ago I read a couple of books by Lara Adrian and I thought they were alright so I decided to try this since it was a novella, and the novella and the audible were both free. However, I was reminded as to why I only read a couple of her books; she writes waaaay to much sex. Not too many sex scenes but only one sex scene with pages and pages and pages of it. After about 10 or 12 or 15 pages you have to start skimming just to get back to the story.

And it was a good story. Savage/Ettore was sent to a drug dealers house to blow Massioni and his lieutenants to smithereens when he sees his one-time girlfriend in the house. I guess you all know he had to sneak in to rescue her. And their love story began. (They loved each other 10 years before but he went away without telling her why he was going.)

I mentioned the sex already and the F-bomb was used 22 times.

As to the narration: Hillary Huber was just alright for me. Her Italian accents weren’t all that great, but her pronunciations of Italian were good. And her male voices weren’t that great either, they needed to be a little bit deeper. And she read with no emotion at all. She wasn’t horrible but I wouldn’t go out of my way to find books she narrates. She, at least, tried to sound manly.
