Are menopause symptoms disrupting your life? Find out how to lose weight, eliminate symptoms, and get your body and mind back. Menopause can feel chaotic. You probably feel that your body and mind are out of control. There’s lots of advice and unrealistic promises about menopausal symptoms. Much of it is designed to promote particular products or create startling headlines or a great social media post. People don’t care about truth and what is effective as long as it sells. That’s why you need this audiobook. It looks at the research and bases its advice on what has been shown to be effective. It’s explained in ways that are practical and easy to apply. You’ll get clear, precise advice about what works and how you can use this information in your own life, even if you’ve always struggled in the past with your weight and confidence.
The author, Jane Thurnell-Read, is known for explaining complex research in a way that is easy to understand and apply immediately. She’s also known for her chatty and humorous style of writing that conveys these ideas in an enjoyable way.

The author explores “the window of vulnerability” during the time of biological, psychological and physical changes as women’s hormones fluctuate, the importance of self care and the importance of listening to our bodies.
Women all over the world experience the transition into menopause (peri-menopause) and living in full-blown menopause differently. Some have mild symptoms whereas others go through debilitating ones; some experience menopause earlier than others too.
Jane uses various scientific papers as references to these variables . Women do not have the same experience of menopause , therefore the wellness strategy for each woman should be different too.
She proposes that one’s perception and experience CAN change, even though it may feel like a challenge initially. Embrace the change to reinvent oneself, and undertake a lifestyle “spring-clean”.
The most vital change is to become informed about menopause.
Weight gain, digestive disruptions, joint pain and hot flushes are some of the common symptoms, yet they can be minimised and at best, avoided. Lifestyle changes are important and Jane’s research has empowered her own wellbeing. She shares her wisdom in a thorough, yet uncomplicated way.
The pros and cons of HRT (hormone replacement therapy) based on peer-reviewed studies and surveys are discussed.
This is important knowledge to have on hand when discussing this option with your doctor.
Jane also addresses the options of researched complimentary and alternative methods and supplementation, along with nutritional helps. Jane also offers a freebie online reference guide regarding eating out whilst actioning healthy dietary changes.
Sound advice offered, is to allow oneself time to make the changes, in order to prevent overwhelm. Jane gives helpful nutritional information and elicits the importance of mindset changes around dietary choices, exercise and self-respect. A mindfulness approach can be helpful in our relationship with wellness and the stigma around menopause.
Insomnia is one of the debilitating symptoms and Jane explains the knock-on effect on our mental and physical functioning. She helps us take note of all factors involved and how to make changes.
Other topics included are libido, diabetes, depression, bone health, and stress related urinary incontinence. Jane’s research enabled her to illicit the simple changes we can make to prevent or lessen these issues . Moreover, awareness of the vast effects of menopause is the biggest takeaway of this book.
The importance of having an informed doctor is vital. Some symptoms, for example panic attacks can occur - they are not a normal part of menopause; a mental health professional would need to be included in one’s wellness team.
Jane explains that symptoms are messages from our bodies, and the importance to heed them to kickstart making the changes you can and definitely not to accept the unhealthy ageing philosophy the world throws at us.
“This book is about hope and solid actionable information.”
