Publisher's summary

Are you a guy who's interested in building rock-hard muscle, erasing your belly fat, boosting your testosterone, and having more mind-blowing sex than you thought possible?

If so, then Man 2.0: Engineering the Alpha was written specifically for you....

In his new book, celebrity trainer and Men's Health expert John 'Roman' Romaniello teams up with expert Adam Bornstein, former editor for both Men's Health and LIVESTRONG. Together, they reveal the secrets they've discovered that will give any man - no matter how old you are - a chiseled body that will turn heads everywhere you go.

You know the kind of body I'm talking about. The kind of body that women seem to drool and stare at when they're at the beach with their girlfriends....

As a former "fat guy", Roman struggled for years to find a workout and diet that would give him the body he always wanted. By using the very secrets you'll find in this book - techniques he's spent 10 years perfecting - he overcame his "fat genes" and boasts a lean and ripped body - the kind that could be (and has been) seen on the cover of magazines.

And the best part is - you don't have to kill yourself to get this body. Man 2.0: Engineering the Alpha will show you exactly how to get the body you've always wanted without starving yourself and without spending 2 hours in the gym every day. And for all of the guys out there wondering.... YES! Man 2.0: Engineering the Alpha will even work for guys in their 30s, 40s, and 50s.... Getting lean, ripped, and strong is not just for young guys!

In Man 2.0: Engineering the Alpha, Romaniello and Adam Bornstein present proven, powerful ways for men to improve physical, emotional, sexual, and psychological health. From research in Olympic labs to real-life results with their clients, they are reinventing masculinity and showing every man how to become exactly who he wants to be....

If you're ready to build strong, defined muscles, burn away your belly fat, boost your testosterone, and start experiencing more mind-blowing sex than you ever thought was possible - then grab your copy of Man 2.0: Engineering the Alpha now....

Haters Should Try it First

Any additional comments?

There are a lot of reviews trying to steer you away from this book, but they are ALL coming from people who have never tried what John and Adam are preaching.

I bought the hard cover the day it came out (and later the audio book), and I was so inspired by what John and Adam had to say that I signed up with John's private internet coaching.

I'm completing my six month cycle and I have to tell you the results are truly transformational. In this 6 month journey, I have lost a total of 63 lbs. (from 249 to 186 and my body fat % has gone from the high 30's to about 8%.

Was it hard? Hell yes it was hard! I worked my butt off in the gym. I sacrificed sleep to get my workouts in. I ate very clean and I followed John's program to the letter every step of the way. I stopped thinking "this is dumb" when he had me doing lunges and goblet squats vs. the more traditional (and manly) power moves. I handed over control to him and his program and it worked out EXACTLY the way he said it would.

But what's interesting is now I don't miss any of the junk food and I actually PREFER eating clean. I feel great, mentally sharp, light, strong and very powerful.

So I again say... ignore the haters. If you are serious about changing your body and getting a totally fresh look at nutrition and exercise this is the book for you. I am a FIRM believer in their hormone optimization approach to fitness and nutrition. It has changed my life.

Everything you need is in here... a detailed nutritional program that you can easily customize to YOUR specific situation and a step by step exercise program.

Just do what he says (even though it may initially seem silly and weird) and I guarantee that you too will have a transformational story to tell very soon.

Heavy pitch, weak delivery

The book begins and continues for several hours to pitch the book to you. Not sure why the authors thought this was necessary, the only way i can see this would be of benefit is if they offered the first 2/3's of the book for free and wanted to charge for the last third. The book felt like a cross between an infomercial and a motivational speech.

The end of the book has the dieting plan, which is gone over very quickly and briefly and probably consists of less than 20 minutes of the book's 7 hour runtime. They don't even mention most of the actual content of the diet and exercise plan (but they can be found on the pdf, and I don't believe there is even a way to get that pdf with the audible version).

The positive side of the book is that as far as I can tell most of the information in it (when it takes a break from telling you stories about video games and making references to Fight Club) seems to be pretty accurate. So if you don't know anything about how to eat, maybe this is a good book for you to pick up.

Disappointed but will remain open minded.

What could have made this a 4 or 5-star listening experience for you?

More science, less fluff and superlatives.

What could John Romaniello and Adam Bornstein have done to make this a more enjoyable book for you?

I bought the book already. Enough with the sales pitch and get to the substance.

Have you listened to any of John Romaniello and Adam Bornstein ’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

First time.

You didn’t love this book... but did it have any redeeming qualities?

I will give the exercise and diet plans a try and endeavour to do them properly. Hope to still be glad I spent time and money on this book.

Any additional comments?

Had trouble finding the pdf initially. For anyone having the same issue... Click on the REFERENCING GUIDE LINK at the bottom of the 'Publisher's Summary' (same page as book and reviews).

A great move for Audible

I think this book is really awesome. I've been working out and even competing at the Professional level of athletics for a years now and a lot of the info in this book was very useful to me. I would love to see Audible get more books like this with useful attached PDF's. I think that this is a solid read for anyone who's interested in fitness. No matter what your knowledge level there's going to be something in the air that you're going to find useful. However, I can see someone who has never lifted before but who's interested in stepping into the realm of health and fitness benefiting from this book.

Subtitle should read: "Only if you read the PDF".

Would you try another book from John Romaniello and Adam Bornstein and/or John Romaniello and Adam Bornstein ?

Maybe, but I doubt it.
Audible book a sales pitch for the attached PDF
What I wanted them to "show me" in the audible book is what's in the PDF.
I thought I'd be audibly walked through the diet and maybe a couple of work-outs. That didn't happen. It's in the PDF they kept saying.

If I wanted to read a PDF I would have bought a PDF.
I think they missed a huge opportunity here.

Has Man 2.0 Engineering the Alpha turned you off from other books in this genre?

kind of, only time will tell.

Which scene was your favorite?

When I turned it off when they started thanking mom, grandma, and who knows who else.

Could you see Man 2.0 Engineering the Alpha being made into a movie or a TV series? Who should the stars be?

No Way!

Frat House Fueled Hyperbole - Anemic Delivery

This book was full of anecdotes and hype designed to whip you up into a frenzy but after listening to over half the book, I had no idea how to hack my hormones, do a single better lift or anything useful for that matter.

Apparently a 'real world guide' means a ton of stupid bro talk and allusions to how much sex you should be having. I gave up after half the book and feeling like the big reveal was just around the corner only to be replaced by another useless anecdote.

It should be called Infomarketing: Engineering an Unreal Guide. Next!

Almost as many Fbombs as useful information

If you are offended by foul language, this is not the book for you. While there is a lot of good information, the author/narrator drops Fbombs left and right. While I am not easily offended, the language left and right did detract from the information. You don't have to be an Fbomber to be an alpha. The primary reason I bring this up is the fact that I like to listen to audiobooks while I'm working and I was not able to do that with his book

Aside from the language, there is a lot of good information in this book and covers information from nutrition (what and when to eat), weight training, cardio, supplements and more.

Go ahead and skip this one

Let me save you the time and money...

Testosterone is awesome because science.
Don't eat breakfast, and after your cheat day don't eat anything for a day.
Do oddball exercises at the gym (Javelin Press??)
If you use the f word 300 times per chapter you seem cool.

I wanted to believe that this would work, tried it for six weeks, lost 2 lbs, BF% decreased a little (Omron 0.5%). Compared to previous methods (eating breakfast) on similar negative calorie diets I've been able to lose much more. Intermittent Fasting is great for keeping your weight the same, but seems pretty hard to get great fat loss results. Maybe I was doing it wrong (I tried to follow everything exactly).

The other thing that really was weird was their constant need to drop the F bomb, literally 2 times per page. For no reason. It made them seem less like "Exercise Scientists" (which they assure the listeners they are) and more like "Bro Scientists".

For my buck, I'd say skip this book.

This is a sales pictch for his other products---

What could have made this a 4 or 5-star listening experience for you?

provide the plan he keeps talking about--after 8 hours of talking still no program, just lots of words about being a male. It just puts more mud in the water for people looking to get or be healthier. There is nothing new here. It is up to each person to keep informed on the latest health info and find what will work best in our life plan.
Make your plan based on solid research---Look at the Great courses books for a great start. Than search for more info armed with science based info. If you want the program download the PDF read it, if you like it than go buy the program and save you ears from 8 hours of dribble.

Has Man 2.0 Engineering the Alpha turned you off from other books in this genre?

No one bad apple does not spoil the batch--just a wordy book selling his program

What about John Romaniello and Adam Bornstein ’s performance did you like?

Good voice quality--easy to listen to

If you could play editor, what scene or scenes would you have cut from Man 2.0 Engineering the Alpha?

The off colored words---They seem smart enough to use better words--maybe they felt it gave a shock value--maybe they felt it was a cool way to write---

Any additional comments?

Save your money-but most of all save your time--that is the sad part I wasted 6+ hours waiting for THE PROGRAM--but I must now go now and buy the program---they do have a download with the book 115+ pages--maybe it in that---If so let us know up front-I could have spent 6+ hours reading that a skip the book--most the time I was wondering just what the hick they were talking about.

high school

the entire book felt like it was written and read by a senior in high school that did a little research. Sad.
