A new progression fantasy epic featuring a detailed magic system, kingdom building, and plenty of action.

A regression ritual gone wrong. A mage reborn in an ancient era. A world to rebuild.

Kai of the Sorcerer's Tower was one of the last Mages left, barely surviving in a world contaminated with dead mana and ruled by creatures of the dark.

To save his world and fulfill his master's last wish, he puts himself through a forbidden ritual, risking his soul being ripped into pieces to make his way into the past, to a golden era with abundant mana.

But things go wrong. He overshoots and finds himself in an ancient time thousands of years earlier, within the body of a young lord named Arzan.

All is not well, though. The young lord was murdered by mysterious forces before Kai took over, beasts are rampant, and even larger threats loom on the horizon.

There's a lot to do for Kai to regain his former strength in this time of primitive technology. Then again, he might just be able to change that and makes things even better than they ever were.

Don't miss the start of this Progression Fantasy Epic about a desperate mage sent into the past to rescue his apocalyptic world. Features a detailed magic system, kingdom building, three-dimensional characters, plenty of action, and everything you love about progression fantasy!

Some reviews say he was supposed to be an all powerful wizard but from what I got he was merely the last, not the most powerful. Just a 5th circle..where their were quite a bit more lofty titles. Also the MC was from a dying world where he grew up a street rat then isolated by the end so isnt the most socially adept. Honestly felt like that, like a powerful wizard that had little experience beyond battle and magic.

Now the story itself was engaging, a few mysteries to be left wondering about. Good MC and side characters. Plenty of future knowledge to implant yet not OP level just enough if done right that could change the future. Enough hardships to seem setbacks but not feel like unrealistic author roadblocks or plot armor defeats of them. It was well balanced.
No real cliffhanger ending yet left wanting more.
All and all a great book and decent narration.
If done right and put out fast could rival and of the other major progession fantasy out there.

One of the best of the year

The story was interesting overall, but there was too much exposition. For all the exposition there was very little of challenge in the story, the MC had no issues. It was nice that he didn’t have a playbook in that he didn’t end up where he expected, but he always had an answer for every issue. I liked it, but not enough to get the next book in the series.

Good, but too much exposition and a little Mary sue

another great one in my opinion but I really enjoy his writing and can't wait for the next one and the next one and the next one

great story

This narrator performed another series that I hated with a fiery passion, so I might be getting a little PTSD from hearing his voice again. Still, he's absolutely terrible with female voices. And most of his male voices sound like they're trying to execute a difficult bowel movement while recording.

Putting that aside, the dialog itself is unnatural, but that's not unusual with this genre. None of the characters have any personality and the side stories are boring.

Loathe the narrator

It has some similarity to Legend of the Arch Magus, but the complete opposite. Furthermore, it’s just fun in general. I love seeing the difference in perspective of those of the ancient times and the protagonist. Highly recommend

Fun regression/kingdom building story
