This is my favorite so far!

I like all of the Audible books in this series so far, but this is my favorite right now (I plan to listen to all of them). The evolution of the characters and story is absolutely great and the narrator is just delightful to listen to. It seems to get better every time. If you love magic, supernatural creatures and action, you’ll likely enjoy these books.

Warning: Not Stand Alone Books

Love what I'm hearing so far. Theres romantic tension without outright lewdness. The heroine, Kate Daniel's, is a bit of an emotional doofus, but not overwhelmingly so. Just in over her head where diplomacy and politics are concerned when she REALLY needs to have more.

So magical.

If you like the first 2 you'll love it

If you've read the first 2 you'll love this one. If you haven't read the others, go read them first. You won't be lost, but the characters will mean more to you if you've gotten to know them. Non of these books take themselves too seriously, and are a fun fantastic story with a few twists and turns to keep you engaged enough to want to know what happens next. A fun read.

The Kate Daniels Series Just Keeps Getting Better

I just finished reading this book again for the umpteenth time and I love it as much now as I did when I read it for the first time! I was up until 1:11 AM this morning reading it because I just couldn't put it down - that's how good it is! I love Kate Daniels because she's tough when she has to be and yet, she's achingly lonely. She's willing to die for the people she can't help but care about and yet, she wonders what it would be like to have someone she can really trust in her life to come home to. Kate's entire life, from the time she could walk, has been spent training for one purpose and we get a glimpse into what the training was like in this book. Kate becomes more multi-dimensional with each book in the series. The world building is phenomenal and all the characters, whether primary or secondary, just leap off the page because the imagery is so vivid and alive. Kate stretches herself to the breaking point in this book, shaking hands with Death and is snatched away from Death at the last moment. The explosive chemistry between Kate and Curran finally comes to a head in this book and it's just as hot as you could hope for and touching at the same time. There aren't enough superlatives to use to rave about these books. I sincerely recommend them to everyone who loves urban fantasy with a strong, female protagonist. Renee Raudman perfectly portrays Kate's rage and grief over what happens to Derrek and the stunning realization that she's attracted to Curran. Each performance delves deeper and deeper into Kate as more and more is revealed about her.

great read

another great read, she develops the Male characters very well and reads just the right speed n tone at all times. I really enjoy all the action n how it just has a tad bit of romance unlike some books I've recently read and the dude cant even walk without staring at her lips or forgetting what hes doing, it's a bit much. this one perfect blend n makes it more realistic with all the facts and knowledge of weapons and deities.

A-mazing!!

I have read and listened to my fair share of adventure, sci-fi, and monster novels. The Kate Daniels books are freaking awesome!! I didn't think anything would ever heal the whole Anita Blake leaves between novels but hot damn this sure does.

This Should go Marvel

On the merit of Simon being the grandson of Loki. just a movie about the gladiator ring. good start point, this shows Kate as a Swordsman, taunts Roland and Curran starts seriously courting Kate. I have always wanted to see these I books on the big screen. Marvel may be a way to do this.
My personal need to see is the Big Battle during the flair. I want to see that. Also I'm biased as this is actually my favorite series. Thank You.

Loving this Kate Daniels series!!!

Firstly, as an Atlantan this series is fun to listen to/ read about!! Secondly, i love this narrator! She has great inflections, snark and pacing but most importantly she can read! While this may seem obvious for a narrator, some of my favorite books were ruined by later audiobooks due the narrators being unable to read more complex English words or words with weird spellings/ pronunciation etc. no matter how much I tried with some of those books eventually the narrator ruined the stories for me. Not so with the Kate Daniels books!!!

Overall, I really appreciate the complexity and development of the main and some peripheral characters and the continued nuances we learn in each book with each new adventure (Curran/Beast Lord, Derek, Jim, Dr. Doolittle, Julie, Andrea, Raphael and Saimon?) - please ignore spellings since I’m listening rather than reading. Saimon turned out to have a cool backstory too! More importantly I love the uncertainty that the magic and tech waves add to already complicated situations!! It’s fun that this is an accepted and anticipated part of life and seeing how the various characters get creative during the waves.
Although love the crazy situations Kate gets herself into it is sometimes frustrating that many of these issues and injuries could be avoided if she trusted others enough to ask for help. It was made perfectly clear via the underlying storyline has made that this flaw of hers is due to a paranoia that asking for help - and more generally having friends and relationships - equates to others around her being killed to get to her. This fear was instilled by her deceased father and father-figure, and has resulted in her recluse like ways. She is slowly but surely learning to Rey on her working relationships with friends/members of the order and the Pack. This story adds some additional elements about mythical creatures from Indian deity and folklore as well as more info about the mysterious Roland and Kate’s origins. I’d been wondering how far into the series we would get before learning the secret of Kate’s heritage and wasn’t sure how much longer I wanted to wait to find out, despite the laugh out loud hilarity and action of the books. Glad this aspect was revealed so that we can continue to learn the extent of Kate’s powers and what that means for her impending confrontation with Roland!! Also I can’t wait to see her relationship with Curran; their banter and tension of the continued dance around each other was very exciting in this book!! Excited for more especially as Julie’s powers continue to develop as well as Andreas relationship with Raphael 😊

A Fantastic Third Installment!

This is one of my favorite books of the series. Things start off quickly with Derek sustaining irrevocable and brutal damage that is the impetus for a series of decisions and actions of several key characters in the series. I enjoyed the action-packed plot, how the authors set it up from beginning to end, and how I didn't ever feel rushed through anything. But, it's the smoldering, slow-burn connection between Kate and Curran that really heats up this series in this installment, without giving everything up all at once, so you still feel just as invested in their relationship as when you started the book. Curran continues to do his dominate, alpha persona without ever crossing into intolerably overbearing or patriarchally insulting, and Kate is just as loyal, headstrong, and courageous as she has been in previous books. I also appreciated the introduction of some more secondary characters and further exploration of others we already know. The ongoing series foreshadowing is done well by giving the audience just enough to know significant things are still in motion but nothing more than just enough.

Renee Raudman finally seemed to hit her stride with this book with better differentiation and consistency with accents and characters, so I was happy to go up to four stars with narration. There still seems to be the occasional mispronunciation, but when they are few and far between, I can ignore them more easily.

A whole-hearted recommendation to fans of paranormal fantasy, fantasy romance, the authors, and the series.

Magic Strikes

This is a great third book, with fast past action from one crises into another. I was sat at the edge of my seat not wanting to stop the book. Brilliantly read again by Renee Raudman.
