MAX
I was delighted to read this next book in the series! Please keep them coming.
I was disappointed again in reading the reviews people have written about this book and the others in the series. Attention adults - the books in this series were written for young teenagers and younger, NOT adults. They are written in a different format and style that works well with young imaginative minds, so please quit analyzing with adult minds and to adult standards.
I am 48 years old and love all of James Patterson novels. But when I read any of the "MAXIMUM" novels I do so from a different perspective, a perspective of a youngster. I was first interested in the storyline because as a child I always wished I could fly like the characters do. As an adult I do fly, but in airplanes after obtaining my pilots license.
I think everyone would enjoy all the books in the series if they approach them from the right prespective - a young imaginative mind!

Still worth it.. barely
I loved this series when I was younger, but every book in it suffers greatly from being abridged - so much of the appeal of this series lies in the small, non-essential details within the plot, and almost all of that is cut out. It's just the big action scenes and plot devices left, and though I srill think the series is worth listening to, it could have been so much better if the books were left unedited in their transfer to audio.

Great story, awful recording!
My kids and I love the stories. However the Voices are terrible. The first book was great the second book okay but it's gone downhill from that as far as the recording

Children's fantasy
Max is much akin to Saturday morning propaganda cartoons in that children with magical abilities have to defend the earth against the big, bad, greedy corporation. It should be classified as Children's Fantasy. It is one in a series of books. Perhaps the earlier ones were more interesting, but I would not recommend this one to an adult.
