Publisher's Summary

James Patterson's blockbuster Alex Cross series has sold over 100 million copies - and now he's bringing those thrills to a new generation! Alex's son, Ali, is eager to follow in his father's footsteps as a detective, but when his best friend goes missing, what price will he have to pay to solve the mystery?

Ali Cross has always looked up to his father, former detective and FBI agent Alex Cross. While solving some of the nation's most challenging crimes, his father always kept his head and did the right thing. Can Ali have the same strength and resolve?

When Ali's best friend, Gabe, is reported missing, Ali is desperate to find him. At the same time, a string of burglaries targets his neighborhood - and even his own house. With his father on trial for a crime he didn't commit, it's up to Ali to search for clues and find his friend. But being a kid sleuth isn't easy - especially when your father warns you not to get involved! - and Ali soon learns that clues aren't always what they seem. Will his detective work lead to a break in Gabe's case or cause even more trouble for the Cross family?

For "tweens”

I was so looking forward to this takeoff of an Alex Cross book. Guess I wasn’t prepared for a precocious self important young man who continually sneaked behind his family’s backs to "investigate” on his own.
I was truly disappointed in the family’s pretty much looking the other way at Ali’s transgressions. Luckily there was a happy ending.

Great Book for Preteens & Younger Teens

A timely book for preteens and younger teenagers. It kept our family's attention driving to the beach.

It will be interesting to see how the timelines for the original Alex cross series match with this but I really hope that James Patterson decides to continue As it was a great story

Different but good! I enjoyed hearing a story from Alex Cross’s son. Puts a different perspective on the family’s life.

Absolutely love this book!!!

I've enjoyed a number of Alex Cross books and am excited to have a teen friendly version.to share with my students!!!! The Cross family is full of a diverse group with strong characteristics. In the Alex Cross books, I imagined Ali being accepted to an awesome school for highly intelligent children. This book focused on his intelligence and wittiness as he tries to find his missing friend. I thought I knew what was going to happen but there were some twists and thoughtful contemporary teen trends that made the story realistic. I hope there are more Ali stories to come!!!

Great Idea!

The narrator was great, wonderful plot, there are two stories in one and both were well written.

More of a teen book for my taste

It was nice to get into Ali’s life but, after finishing the last in the Alex Cross series, it was not what “I” was expecting. Good story though. Ali’s “voice” was a bit weird for me also. Get it for your teen. PG rating for sure.

Ali Cross got his own story with his friends and family. The narrators are amazing here.
