Adina can’t resist snooping when someone she knows turns up dead. Again.

When a colleague at a prestigious think tank meets a violent death, Adina’s not convinced any of the obvious suspects disliked him enough to want him dead. Can the young research assistant, her quirky neighbor, and a lovable rescue pup help the police put together the pieces of the puzzle?

Killer Reputation is the third mystery in the Adina Donati, Accidental Sleuth Series by Cassidy Salem. The books are stand-alone listens, and can be heard in any order.

Killer Reputation is the 3rd in the Adina Donati Accidental Sleuth Mystery series by Cassidy Salem. Adina is a researcher at a Washington DC think tank. When one of her colleagues and neighbors gets killed, Adina can’t help herself and gets involved in sleuthing. The series is a lot of fun, the writing is good, and the characters are relatable and personable. The narration by Melissa Haley is excellent. She creates a unique voice for each character and brings the story to life.

I really enjoyed this storyline and the ultimate suspects of the murder is a twist that is as funny as unthinkable. Adina stumbles upon this when a neighbor/coworker is attacked and subsequently killed by an unknown assailant/assailants. While doing her undercover investigation Adina realizes that more people disliked the victim than liked him and wanted him to pay. Adina and her favorite detective Jonathan is still heading in the right direction and it seems she may have another goal in mind. Sorry no spoilers here. I was able to figure things out but it still made it entertaining to listen to the story. I highly recommend this book. This is my honest unbiased review that I am voluntarily leaving of my own volition.

Another murder has occurred and the victim was someone Adina knew. Now there are tie ins to her neighborhood and tie ins to people at work. The lead investigator isn’t very happy because Adina is meddling in the investigation. This was a fun cozy mystery with great characters, fun humor, and dogs! I listened to the audiobook and the narration was easy to listen to.

This is the second Cassidy Salem book in this series that I have listened to while exercising. This book is the third in the Accidental Sleuth series.

Adina Donati works at a think tank called the Dipper in Washington D.C. and volunteers at an animal rescue. A colleague who also lives near her is murdered. Adina winds up investigating as one of her roommates is seeing the dead colleague’s roommate.

The story deals with blackmail, womanizing, domestic violence, and touches on pro-life issues.

The story was well-written and narrated. This is not a gory book but thought provoking depending on your attitudes towards each of the topics mentioned above. I liked the ways the author presented clues, verified facts for the clues to have the mystery progress. Also, Adina’s boyfriend Jonathan is a detective and is away for training. This leaves his boss to conduct the interviews in her office and run the investigation.

We learn some unsavory details of the victim’s, Patrick Denfy, life. Adina is on the scene when a key piece of evidence is found in the investigation by her neighbor’s dog. This leads to a confession of sorts for other misdeeds. Eventually, we learn who committed the murder and why. I like how there were several mystery threads going throughout the book which are brought to a satisfactory conclusion.

I recommend this book and series. This book is a standalone read.

who killed Patrick?
