Publisher's Summary

In this stirring new novel, acclaimed number one New York Times best-selling author Fern Michaels delves into the remarkable ways in which moments of crises can lead to our greatest acts of courage....

When Carol Ann “CJ” Jansen lost her beloved older brother, Kick, in a boating accident, she came adrift. Kick had taken on the role of caring for his little sister after their parents were killed in a car crash. Inheriting half his fortune has left CJ financially secure - yet needing a purpose. As administrative assistant to powerful congressman Snapper Lewis, she’s immersed herself in the exciting and often tumultuous world of politics.

But suddenly, the career that anchors her life is threatened. CJ stumbles upon information that could implicate her boss in corruption. When the congressman goes missing, the closer CJ gets to uncovering the truth, exposing one shocking secret after another, the more she wonders if she’s also in jeopardy.

Moving to a small New England town for her own protection, CJ gradually begins to engage with her new surroundings. Her blossoming friendship with the owner of a charter fishing boat offers the promise of much more. But before she can claim happiness, CJ must navigate a course through all her doubts and fears, and trust that this time, the water that took so much from her might just lead her safely home....

Too much wine!

I love wine, but seriously, it’s in every chapter
Like a character. Also, the narrator was not the best. Story ok. I kept waiting for another
Shoe to fall in the investigation.

Not up to her normal standards

I have a certain expectation when listening to my favorite authors. This story is not as well thought out with scattered juvenile comments that just are not doing it for me. I couldn’t finish. That’s a first for me when listening to Fern Michaels. I don’t care for the narrator. It sounds like her first performance. I’m so disappointed

Disappointing

I hadn’t listened to a Fern Michaels book in quite a while, but when I came across Deep Harbor, remembered how I enjoyed her books in the past, added it to my library, and looked forward to a few hours of getting lost in a new story. Unfortunately, I didn’t enjoy this book. The main character (C.J.) was so whiney and immature it was hard to believe that she held a position as important as Chief of Staff to a US Congressman. There was no conflict that couldn’t be overcome by C.J.’s staggering wealth, or some other contrived solution. The plot, solutions to problems, and final conclusion were implausible and boring. Very disappointed.

Pick a different narrator for this book

Actually, I listened to this book because I spend a lot of time in my car. From the very beginning, I thought I might have given the book a better rating if not for the narrator. Her voices for male characters were scratchy and irritating. Those passages felt to me like fingers on a blackboard. My take away from this experience is that I should try a sample of audible books before purchasing.

2 books

As good as the first half of the book was, the second half was awful. I thought I was listening to two different books. The heroine, CJ, was very interesting and dynamic in the first half, then becomes a limp air head in the second half. What a disappointment .

Outstanding from beginning to end!!!

It was impossible for me to stop listening once I started. The narrator is extremely talented and pleasant to listen to. The story is heartfelt, romantic and very caring all the way through. The ending was very unexpected but great as are many of Fern Michaels’ writings.

Just say no

I thought it was going to be a good chick book. I couldn’t get through the introduction of the gay relationship. I’m tired of it being thrown in my face on TV these days, which I choose not to watch, and I don’t want to listen to it either.

I wanted to fall asleep

The narration was monotonous. The storyline was unexciting. I felt like I was listening to a meditation recording.
