Number One Suspect

Christa Nardi's new series is interesting and entertaining. The protagonist, Stacie Maroni is in the middle of divorce proceedings when her husband is found dead, so she becomes the number one suspect in the police investigation. The author tells her story without going into graphic and overt prose, but still manages to write a clever mystery that keeps the reader guessing. I recommend this series to those who enjoy mysteries. Naomi Rose-Mock's narration is great as she gives the different characters their own voice. I was given a free copy of the audiobook and I have voluntarily left this review.

Great beginning to a series

This was a great first book of a new series. I love books that contain animals, children, fun paranormal characters, cozy mysteries, who-done-it books that aren't over the top, mysteries that have a surprise ending and don't contain a lot of foul language or explicit sex scenes. I'm no prude, but I believe foul language and explicit sex scenes actually ruin a book. So kudos to this author for giving me almost everything I like! I only wish it was longer.

This book was a pleasure to listen to and the narrator, Naomi Rose-Mock, did a wonderful job bringing all the characters to life. I would like to thank the author, narrator, or publisher for providing me this audiobook at no cost in exchange for my unbiased review & I look forward to listening to more books by both the narrator & the author.

Money buys silence…

But death brings more permanent silence! This is the first in the Stacie Maroni series by Christa Nardi. The story covered contemporary issues and was fast moving, engaging with twists towards the resolution of the murder mystery. The narration by Naomi Rose-Mock was great, with the appropriate voices and inflections to add to enjoyment to the story. I am going to read the next one in the series soon to continue Stacie’s story.

not your typical cozy

The first in the series. This is unusual as the protagonist is not investigating the murder.
Stacie Marino Noth is going through a divorce. She found him in bed with another woman.

She meets a very handsome gentlemen one evening and then he comes to question her about her husband’s death. He is a detective.

The book also touches upon the following topics: sexual harassment in the workplace, complicated familial relationships, the power of money, sexual harassment in the workplace, and domestic violence.

I liked this so much I purchased another in the series.

twisty

This was such a good murder mystery. I was clueless to the villain until it was revealed. I liked that the victim trusted his ex more than anyone in the end. A shame he had to mess up a good thing by cheating. smh. It was also sad that the victim of abuse felt too ashamed to do something about it,and she blamed those who wanted to help her!!!?? I voluntarily listened to a free copy of this and am giving an honest review. The narrator did a great job bringing it to life.

Great Pool Side Book

A fun to listen to book for the pool this summer. Very nicely performed . Story line is interesting and who “done it” is a surprise right to the end. Some fun true to life touches we all experience from having to constantly reset the alarm system to ice cream for dinner! I would certainly listen to another book by written by Ms Nardi and narrated by Ms Rose-mock.

Excellent story, great narration

A really great whodunit with a light touch but some serious themes of spousal abuse. Stacie is just ending a difficult divorce when her husband is murdered. Throw in two handsome policemen and things get interesting. Well written characters, light fun dialogue, a decent mystery that does the serious subject justice and a killer that was unexpected. The Audio book has a great narrator with an easy style and good voice. I look forward to listening to more of these. I received a complimentary copy from the Author and am leaving a honest voluntary review

A Good Mystery Murder

What is a mystery without some good unexpected twists? This book has several, and kept me guessing right to the end.

The narrator made listening to the story very easy, and as it unfolded I grew to like, or to loathe, the characters.

I would gladly read more by this author.

A real who dunnit mystery!

First book I've listened to on audio, loved both the experience and the book. After a visit from the police to inform Stacie her estranged husband has been murdered, the reading of the will was rushed through and family secrets were revealed. On returning home, Stacie' s House had been ransacked but nothing taken. Suspicions were forming in Stacies mind but she needed more evidence. This came in the form of an envelope sent to her place of work from her husband the day before he died.
The plot gathers speed quickly, with twists and turns that keep you guessing, then prove you wrong. There is no easing off the gas with this fantastic storyline, as Stacie keep picking her way through each clue. The book has it all, murder, suspense , mystery, abuse and romance. The ending is a surprise, will you guess who the murderer is? Great job by this talented author.
