Publisher's Summary

For 60 years Eleanor Estes' classic novel about a family struggling to get along in the early part of the century has charmed and delighted readers with its warmth and gentle humor. Now it comes to life in a full cast recording that will have you laughing out loud...and occasionally wiping away a tear. Our whole cast fell in love with this book, and we predict that you will, too.

Review by three siblings and their mom

I LOVE it! -Emily
It was good. I prefer one narrator over many actors. -Charlie
I enjoy it. -Lydia
A good read with much to discuss about living in previous decades. The ensemble did a great job and it was nice to hear a dramatic version of this book. -Mom

Love all Eleanor Estes books, hate this performanc

How could the performance have been better?

Can't even stand to listen to this. It sounds like a robot is reading it, and there are even words that seem to be skipped. Pity, because I love the Estes books overall. Seems like the narrator is speed reading, as another reviewer said. It would be an improvement if it sounded like a real person was reading it.

A book of short stories.

We liked that each chapter was a short story with the Moffett family. it was great to here stories of a simpler time when children were both independent, responsible and free. However, we did not care for the individual character narration.

Engagingly narrated for kids

My two boys, under 10 yrs old, loved the story and listened to it multiple times. The story is told from a little girl's perspective which kids can easily identify with. The narrator does a great job of being clear and engaging.

Fun family read aloud

Not a total classic, but a fun family read. My kids found the acting cute, but more distracting. Perfect light reading.

Reviewing the performance only

What did you like best about The Moffats? What did you like least?

We did not listen to the complete book so I'm unable to give a review of the story. We intensely disliked the narration.

Would you recommend The Moffats to your friends? Why or why not?

Not the Audible recorded version

Would you be willing to try another one of Cynthia Bishop and Full Cast ’s performances?

No.

Any additional comments?

This sounds simply awful. It's like the narrator was trying to speed read through the book or as if the audio itself has merely been sped up.
