Wonderful story read by the supremely talented Joan Allen

I wish she had narrated the Melendy books as well! Heart-warming with well-developed characters!

I read this fantastic book as a child over 40 years ago, I never forgot it. Slightly politically incorrect by today's standards but still a wonderful, wholesome tale of a memorable summer.
