All thats missing is Brian Jaques

I love this series and have read the books since I was young. One of the things that I loved about the audiobooks was the Brain Jaques read the stories himself. For some reason he isn't the narrator of this book. If you've listened to other books in this series you'll recognize most of the same actors. Still a wonderful story and well done. I just missed the voice of Brian Jaques

We love Brian Jacques

If you haven't listened to a Brian Jacques Redwall book, you're missing out. A full cast brings to life a wide variety of characters, and the classic good vs evil epic stories are enthralling. My three kids (12yo boy, 8yo girl, and 6yo boy) love the Redwall series as do my husband and I. With so many books in a series, with the same type of characters and the classic good vs evil theme, you'd think that the books would all start to sound the same, but they're all different, there are still surprises, and the characters still delight (and disgust). My one warning is that these are violent books, characters fight and die (good and evil), might not be a great choice for some younger ears.

AWESOME

I originally purchased this book for our son to read because he had read one of the other Redwall books. Being an avid reader, I decided to listen too! Wow! I couldn't stop and before I knew it I had finished the book ahead of him! The full cast truly brings the book to "life" as if its a movie!

Excellent book, but...

Would you listen to Salamandastron again? Why?

Brian Jacques works are ones I find myself returning to again and again. I always enjoy the audiobook versions of his books as they are like listening to a radio play version with all the different actors.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Salamandastron?

Too many to count!

What about Full Cast’s performance did you like?

I loved each and every moment. Utilizing a full cast allows for a greater depth of listening entertainment. I do prefer the titles that are narrated by Brian Jacques himself, and that is the one thing I was missing from this particular title. Still quality work though!

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Absolutely! But who has time for that?

good story

a good story with some interesting twists.
the cast did a great job being the story to life.
I did find it odd that samkin, who was an archer, really didn't use his bow and arrows to fight with.
highly recommend for teen and adults, and other than a few fights, children should like the story.

Awesome

Honestly, I thought it would be just one guy narrating, but all these voices! It was epic. Since I found these books in my sleep away camp library, I became a instant fan. When I got the Salamandastron audio, it was awesome. I definetly recommend this book. Toodles!

eulaliaaaaaa!!

This novel, while not narrated by the author himself, is another favorite of mine. Four tales intertwine to make one epic story and the villians, Ferrago and his son, make some of the nastiest vermin to ever set paw in Mossflower country. Get ready to feast and fight is this amazing installment of the series over and over again. After all, the door to Redwall Abbey is always open to all good creatures.

Top Hole. Wot!

The acting ability of the troupe is beyond anything I expected for a grade school book. I read the Redwall series as a youngster and a few choice options again before recommending them to my niece. At 28yrs old some of the magic has gone out of the story for me but the Cast brings the characters to life in a way even my young imagination never dared. If I didn't know any better I would say the audio book medium was Mr. Jacques original intent. I will be buying more for sure.

Salamandastron

As with all of the Redwall series, Salamandastron is an excellent book in the classic story telling tradition: great plot, great characters who are well developed, good sub-plots, descriptive and engaging details which make the events very visible in the mind's eye. If there is a negative, it is the too long description of the food the characters eat at the various feasts.
