Publisher's Summary

Mattimeo should have been named "trouble". Always getting into mischief and quick to lose his temper, the young mouse seems an unlikely candidate to take up the great sword once wielded by the legendary Martin to defend Redwall Abbey's peaceful way of life. But when Mattimeo and his friends are kidnapped by the fierce fox Slagar the Cruel, the bold little mouse learns that there is far more to becoming a true warrior than simply brandishing a sword.
Don't miss any of Brian Jacques' Redwall series.

Redwall sequel not to be missed!

If you love the original Redwall novel, you owe it to yourself to give this a listen. Brilliant novels rarely have worthy sequels, but this is one of them. The whole cast does a terrific job. Can't recommend these recordings highly enough.

a loving sequel

Truely a noble addition to the redwall series, with everything lovable and more from the original. Mattimeo is one of few books that contain the cast of characters from the original character, and it introduces a amazing new cast while sending you though the unknown northern regions of the redwall world.

A Warrior is more than the sword he wields...

Brian Jacques gives us another riveting tale of Redwall, one that is my personal favorite. I had this in print many years ago , and the sub title caption read, “ One day you may wield the sword , my son .. But it will not make you a warrior.” This book’s main theme is Matthias’ son Mattimeo , who is a spoiled brat. But when he and other young ones are kidnapped by cruel slavers, he must grow into the person he was meant to be. Once again, another tale of desperate danger and courageous creatures fighting to protect those they love.

Entertaining!

The narrator is the author and it is fun to hear the excitement, inflections and animations he surely imagined for the story as he wrote it. A good sequel to the first book Redwall, it is entertaining and captivating. I would recommend it for anyone that loves a storyof good vs. evil.
