Publisher's summary

The How to Train Your Dragon series chronicles the adventures and misadventures of Viking underdog Hiccup Horrendous Haddock III and his dragon, Toothless. In Book 9, a dragon rebellion is coming - filled with the meanest, nastiest dragons in the Archipelago. Razor-wings, Tonguetwisters, and Vampire Ghouldeaths are attacking Vikings and seem to be seeking one soul in particular: Hiccup Horrendous Haddock the Third! Only a King can save them...and only a champion with all of the King's Lost Things can be King. In his adventures, Hiccup has collected quite a few "things" himself. But can a scrawny Viking save the entire Archipelago from certain doom? To find out, Hiccup will have to outwit a witch, fight his arch-enemy, and beat back an army of bloodthirsty dragons with just one sword.

Almost a King.

This story is a bit darker, but it still has its humor. Things have gone down a very bad road. What is going to happen to the Vikings, now that the dragon rebellion has begun? What is going to happen to Stoick and Fishlegs? This book is right on the cusp of a new adventure for hiccup. Must read more. I recommend this series to all who love a good children's book. I love David Tennet's voice, he is one of my favorite narrators.

It has to be David Tennant

If you could sum up How to Train Your Dragon: How to Steal a Dragon's Sword in three words, what would they be?

At this stage, it is getting somewhat predictable and it is David Tennant's performance to makes me listening.

If you’ve listened to books by Cressida Cowell before, how does this one compare?

As good

What does David Tennant bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

The characters come alive. Every one is different and I can recognize the characters as they go from book to book

Wow!

I love the unique premise and developed characters of this story. Cressida Cowell displays the amazing talent to be able to build such a special, comical and sometimes bone-chilling world and fill it with so many great stories. David Tennant is by far the best Audible narrator that I have come across in my years of use with his wide variety of voices, tones and emotions. He has true talent in the profession and makes me feel like I am right there with the characters. Every one of these books are amazing! Listen to them all!!!

Best in the series so far

David Tennant does an amazing job, as he has done with the rest of the series. This book has the best narrative so far. it has lots of back story and history on Hiccup's ancestors, which was really interesting to finally learn about. The story does a spectacular job of tying in the past books to one full story. I can't recommend this one enough, and am very eager to read the next one!

Dragon mania!

My children have been listening to the entire series of How to Train your Dragon and I've heard bits and pieces of each story. But this volume is getting more serious. I actually would not let them listen to it without me! Captivating story which ends with the biggest cliffhanger of the series so far compelling us to get the 10th book ASAP. So in summary it was thoroughly enjoyed by a 5, 6 and 38 year old.

This is where the story gets darker.

Cressida Cowell really made a cohesive story that all culminates in this book. Fishlegs' speech will be my favorite part of the whole story.

David Tennant's performance is still great as a story teller.
