Publisher's summary

Back in Bloor's Academy, Charlie's power takes on a new dimension. He meets a new gallery of characters, including Mr. Pilgrim's replacement, Tantalus Ebony, and the mysterious new student Joshua Tilpin, who appears to be magnetic. But not all is well. Billy has been adopted by the O'Gres, a child-hating couple, who carry with them a gray bag of oaths wherever they go, seducing Billy to sign an oath of obedience, before locking him up behind a force field in an odd place called The Passing House.

Great Book

Great book, very interesting. Recommend for all ages, (more understandable for kids). It kept your attention throughout the book, which is a plus for readers who lack attention toward their book.

Creative writing

I am enjoying relearning this world. The story line is cute and family friendly themes! I would recommend to young children or as a story time read where you read it to your kid.

Starts slow but finishes with intensity

The book is worth reading, and of course essential in the progress of the series, such as the importance of the Pet Cafe. However, it starts with a slow methodical presentation of a lot of back story, though it does not descend into dull middle-book syndrome. The CB series does weave together the situations and plotting of a lot of characters. CB does not have a Ron or Hermione, but does have a loose cloud of associates. Once the melee takes place at the Pet Cafe, then we are off to the races. I am disappointed, however, that despite the obvious, he can’t even link his missing pianist father with the attic piano virtuoso amnesiac.

Loved the Castle of Mirrors!

Charlie Bone has yet another wonderful
Adventure with his friends! Simon Russel Beale does not disappoint with his narration of this book. Jenny Nimmo’s storyline is fantastic! I love how each character is developed a little more each book! I can’t wait to see what happens in the next installment of Charlie Bone!

Forgot how much I loved this series!!! Read it with my son when he was young. Now I’m listening to the audio with my great nephew. He is hooked.

l

Kinda has that Harry Potter creep to it, started reading these when I was a kid now that I'm picking the series back up again I find that it's still the dreary jewel that I fell in love with all those years ago.

Charlie's saga continues

We thoroughly enjoyed this book, as we have the others. It, however, seems to be a pivotal book, without some of the same charm as the others. Nevertheless, very important in the series!
