Coming to America meets Harry Potter

Would you consider the audio edition of Black Panther to be better than the print version?

Yes, I would. The reader's performance was wonderful and really made the story pop! Both my son and I enjoyed it very much.

What did you like best about this story?

It was a new take on an old hero. Meeting the hero in childhood gives us insight into the experiences that will make him the character we know and love. I also love the fact that his father is VERY active and present in the story. I also like that there is a friend of T'Challa's father helping him along the way. A son being shaped by his father's presence instead of his absence.

Have you listened to any of Dion Graham’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

This is the first time I have enjoyed Dion Graham, but he was great.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

T'Challa's conversations with his father and his father's "friend" (no spoilers). Again, it's wonderful to see a young black boy being shaped by his father and other male figures as the adventure of his life unfolds.

Any additional comments?

I really and truly hope that this is the first in a series of books about T'Challa when he was a boy. If Harry Potter can gets 7 books, I am sure there is room on the shelves for our young prince! Ashe.

More background before the movie

I now have more insight into the movie. Kudos to Marvel for showcasing superheroes with some color.

Tell everyone to come meet our young Prince

Ok, I am very proud of myself for discovering this audio book because I follow the class A narrator Dion Graham. This is truly a great and exciting listen the story is fun and informative. Those who aren't familiar with a lot of aspects of our hero get a good introduction to where he comes from the technology they have and how he came to the States. It really is a good time for all ages. Have a listen before or after the highly anticipated Black Panther movie is released you will not be disappointed. Thanks to Ronald Smith for writing a story about the adventures of a young character teens can identify with and look up to. I highly recommend.

To the future king

An excellent coming of age story for the future king of Wakanda. great voice overs and visual given by this performance.

Just okay

Was expecting so much more even for a YA title. The story has major plot holes, and does not seem to use any comic book version of the Black Panther as source material.

Nada

Nothing new here. Got this to prep for the movie. Same old same old. No surprises and I’m a little disappointed but the narrator is wonderful. Not worth the credit for me.
