Do any Marvel authors read comics?

Everything from the (not as big a deal but) constant misuse of I and me to the (very important) author seemingly forgetting that Peter and Miles are in costume and supposed to have secret identities...

The first act goes into great detail and concern about this, yet later on, Peter and Miles call each other by their first names several times around people who could easily overhear. That, plus Miles noticing Pete’s facial expressions while Peter is wearing a mask? It’s really scary Marvel and Dreamscape editors didn’t catch any of this.

Then, let’s consider the city-wide bird-zombie issue. Where is S.H.I.E.L.D.? Where are the Avengers? This isn’t DC... there needed to at least be an excuse as to why those parties didn’t show up for what is described as “the whole city” being turned into bird people.

This is why Spider-Man typically deals with ground level baddies and not city or world threatening ones.

All-in-all, this felt like a piece written to get a certain message across more than entertain. Additionally, it failed to convince me that the author had any prior knowledge of Spider-Man in any universe.

Shame. Could have been fun.

Good story, bad prequel

First off, I want to say that this story really grew on me the more I got thru it, however just like the last spider-man game prequel book, it had some minor problems and inconsistencies to the game that made it kinda hard to read. This book however takes that to a whole new level, by instead of just setting up the next game, it has major events happen that I’d claim could be the basis of a whole game itself.

I’m not saying that this book is bad or anything, in fact I actually think it’s pretty good for the most part, I just think the fact that it’s supposed to be a prequel for something is a little far fetched. I’d give this a read if you like the miles morales game, but otherwise I’d say you could skip it.

A fun addition to the Marvel's Spider-Man lore

Even having already played the Miles Morales game, I found alot to enjoy here. Some of it was a little much or overdone, and it isn't the same quality story as either the base SM1 or the Morales expansion, but it was still a great ride throughout and I'm happy to have listened to it. Narrator did a pretty great job capturing the voices and kept me entertained. Easy recommend.

Entertaining Story

My son and I enjoyed listening to Miles find his vibe and voice as Spider-Man. His adventures and misadventures saving his beloved city were grounded in heart and empathy. We would recommend this story and the Jason Reynold’s Miles Morales book.

Zombie Pigeons

I had to laugh when I realized a joke Peter makes in the game comes true in this story. Zombie pigeons came to life and it wasn't to bad. Narrator does an excellent job with the characters and making it feel like a Spiderman novel.

A great story, written from the wrong perspective.

So, this for me, being a giant Spider-Man fan, was mildly a let down. The story was good, voices were alright, though, good for just one actor 😂. It’s written in the first person, so it’s weird to get used to. Like miles will say, “as I looked to my side I saw” or talking to the reader strangely. After you understand the way it was written it’s a overall good book. Give it a listen.
