Good story

I listened to this story at work, and let my 12 year old daughter listen too. There is enough there for the grown-ups to not be bored and no yuck (cussing, sex...etc) for the kid...I am getting the other books in this series, thanks Audible!! <3 <3

I'm hooked!

I got this title hoping my kids would like like it, but now I'm the one who is hooked. I've now listened to the first 4 AF books and couldn't wait for my credits to renew before I bought the others. Listen at your own risk because you will want to follow Artemis and Holly through all of their adventures!

Great story, very good narrator

Not only is the story good, but the narrator is very good as well. I listen to books at work and this one is fairly even in volume, while still being entertaining with good differences between character voices. This means I can hear the books and not annoy my office mates. (Headphones not allowed.) Better yet, the next stories are really good, too!

Great book, great narrator!

You can't go wrong with the Artemis Fowl series. It's a great series for kids and adults. Very funny, creative, and fun!

I read the books a while back and loved them. I've enjoyed listening to them just as much -- the narrator (Nathaniel Parker) is so great, I look for other things he's narrated.

Great Story

Artemis Fowl, child genius with a twist toward crime, shows himself for the first time, and in doing so, almost causes the first cross-species war. Filled with witt and wonderful definitions of all we've learned in fairytale's. This warm hearted book is the first in the story of Artemis, the child genius who is desperately trying to find out how to be an adult and take care of his mother.

faerie fun

I'm a teacher, and wanted to read this since some of my students have. At first I wasn't sure how much I liked the story, but as I'm now listening to the second one, I guess I did! I find myself much more interested in the faerie world than in Artemis himself, but the more I read, the more I think the author intends that. He has really created a fascinating world, with lots of sly humor (and eco-politicism) that probably goes over kids' heads. The reader here is fabulous -- balances a number of characters, voices, and accents.

Nice Series for youth or adults

During the longs years of Harry Potter drought, it is nice to come across a series that invokes some of the same magic. Not at all like Harry Potter in plot, it engages from the first few minutes. I admit that I had to relisten to some sections due to the complicated plot, but it was original and unpredictable. It is filled with nuanced characters. The voice performance was transparent, as it should be.

NATHANIEL PARKER totally rocks!!!

Parker makes this book come alive. Great accents, great humor, great energy. Very fun! I can't imagine reading the other two books in the series in book form now.
