Trinity Carlson might be having the worst day ever. And that was before she started drinking in a dive bar, right across from her ex and his new girlfriend. So when she finally decides enough is enough, she grabs hold of a hot blond stranger and gives him the kiss of his life.
Walker Lund never expected that a chance at love would hit him right on the mouth. Since the moment his brother decided to settle down, Walker has been dodging his family's hopes that he'll do the same. He's never been interested in following in anyone's footsteps. But when he discovers his sexy assailant has given him a fake name and number, he suddenly finds himself in the mood for a little hot pursuit.

Trinity (and Walker to a lesser degree), had major emotional baggage from their childhoods which could have been resolved through therapy. Walker felt unappreciated and ignored by his large & loving family, yet he did not stand up for himself. I was relieved that Walker wasn't the typical rich alpha jerk but disappointed that he didn't appreciate his many blessings (good health, financial security, family support).
While sympathetic to Trinity for loosing in the parental lottery, she allowed friends, family and strangers to intimidate, insult and degrade her feelings and talent. Trinity had mild mental health issues that she choose to ignore, which was sad and dangerous. Also I like when the author makes a character full-figured but would really love if that woman embraced her curves rather than whined about being bigger than a toothpick.
The best moment of this book was when Walker's mom Silka ripped Trinity's step-monster into shreds. Go Silka! I had to rewind and listen several times, while I laughed and cheered.
Because I believe Lorelei James is an incredibly gifted writer, I almost felt like she was trying too hard to make Walker & Trinity quirky and off beat. The extended Lund family makes an interesting background for this series; it was refreshing to have a wealthy family depicted as caring and socially responsible.
