Evie doesn't open her eyes so she can't see him, but she can smell him. He thickens the air she breathes, choking her with his scent... his aroma. She shivers. She has to resist. If she's not strong, then she will be relegated to the same fate as this predator whose sickness infects her even now. But now, she craves him and he knows that; he has been counting on her need to end the gnawing pain. How he would savor her surrender. She's alive, but how much longer will it take until she begs him not to be?

Now the horseman, very much alive and very pissed off, has taken her prisoner, and he’s eager to make her suffer. Publisher's Summary
Soon-to-be college freshman Evie Claremont had hoped that once she'd arrived on Crestwood's campus, the nightmare that she'd been having would go away. It hasn't. She may be an inexperienced 17-year-old, but she's grounded... sane. She looks for rational explanations to even the strangest circumstances. Since meeting sophomore Reed Wellington, however, nothing makes any sense. Whenever he's near, she feels an attraction to him - a magnetic kind of force pulling her toward him.
Unfortunately, Reed acts as if Evie's the worst thing that has ever happened to Crestwood...or him. But for some reason every time she turns around he's there, barging into her life. What is the secret that he's keeping from her? Evie's hoping that it's anything but what she suspects: That he's not exactly normal...and neither is she. So, maybe Crestwood won't be the making of her, but it could be the breaking of her. Evie's now left to wonder if the dark future her dream is foretelling is...inescapable.

Really enjoyable
Would you consider the audio edition of Inescapable to be better than the print version?
Loved it. Lots of turns and twists in the story line all the way to the end. Some parts are a little over juvenile (use of slang seems weirdly placed at times) but still very nicely written story. Love triangle causes a lot of angst, but looking forward to next book. Really liked the sound of the narrator! Worth the credit.
What did you like best about this story?
characters were nice, love triangle, unexpected bad guys and good gals in story which added suspense even to the end.
What about Emily Woo Zeller’s performance did you like?
Loved her narration
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
No. It's long so requires more than one sitting.

Mysteriously Delicious!
I love paranormal primal lust with a side dish of loaded mystery! It completely kept my attention. Evie is off to college only to run into a gorgeous upper classmen Reed who seems to loathe her existence and always seems to be around her even when she tries to avoid him. Evie finds comfort in her friends especially with a football player named Russell. Evie feels completely at home with Russell but completely in lust for Reed. Of course Evie is no ordinary girl and she is just finding out how special she really is. I'm off to the second book! I have high expectations now I hope it maintains the mystery and lust. Yes, Very credit worthy!

Very Surprising!
Where does Inescapable rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?
I bought this title on a special 2 for 1 offering by audible, not really understanding that it was a YA book. After listening to it for awhile, I became interested in the main characters and invested in what happened to them, especially Evie. When I finished listening to Inescapable, I immediately bought the next 2 titles and then the 4th as well. I also downloaded them to my spare iPod to share with my 13 yr old granddaughter, so we could listen to them together. Emily Woo Zeller is a fabulous narrator, there are so many voices and dialects in this series and you forget that it is only 1 person reading it!
What did you like best about this story?
Not predictable, there is really no way to know where it is going, especially by the time you get to book 4.

A great start to a captivating series
This series is a great listen, and I quickly picked up the rest after finishing this one. A great plot, fun characters and narration that portrays each well, and sets off the storyline without overpowering it, as some narrations can. Evie's evolution into something new and unique is wonderful to follow along with. I think the only complaint I can make about the series is that her own personality and character doesn't seem to evolve with her changes. I don't get a strong sense of why she is such a riveting character, outside of the simple "rule" that angels are drawn to her - and not all are. So it's a strange dichotomy.
I highly recommend this series to anyone who enjoys young adult-style fiction with a definite supernatural twist. I'd listen to this again.

Holy Smokes!
It's hard to say much about this one without risk of spoilers. Since I don't want to ruin anything, let me just say: AWESOME! I mean, if you're into paranormal romance, with intensity, heat, intrigue, and angst then this is the series for you! This story grips the reader in a supernatural vice and just doesn't let go until it's ground you into a useless pile of humanity. I never saw it coming. But I loved it. The heart ripping pain Evie dealt with between Reed and Russell was enough to keep me invested, and that was only part of the off-the-charts super-intense plot. I'm in for the whole crazy ride.

Big Fan of Series! Excited for Audio Version!
I am a huge fan of this series and I love listening to my audio books as well so this has been long awaited in my book! (pun intended)
Narrators in general can make or break a good book. Is this the case with Inescapable? Maybe so. There were many times I felt the cynicism, and sarcasm was lost on Miss Zeller. This key ingredient was one of the reasons I connected with this book, I understood the main character, Evie through and through. I do recommend listening to this series because AB is an incredible story teller with an exciting heart pounding twist on love, friendship and all things paranormal. Tell your friends and buy em' all!

Annoying, weepy heroine + instalove × 2
another of those novels where every man in sight falls for a weak, weepy heroine who defines narcism. she alternates between judging everyone and wallowing in guilt over things beyond her control, never thinks about how her actions affect others and yet is instantly forgiven because she is "special." This trope never gets more enjoyable, not sure why it's a thing. Oh, and the good old boy "soul mate" who is violently obsessive about her and blows up when she becomes involved with someone else even though they've just met and she's given him no reason to think they are in a relationship. just no. This type of behavior is generally a red flag, not a sign of romance. If thebauthor has to continually try to justify a character's actions, there's an issue. even if she's just doing it to set up a triangle.

Why did I wait sooo long?!
I absolutely loved the Kricket series by Amy Bartol and am not sure why it took me so long to start her Premonition series.
I loved Inescapable and have already downloaded Intuition. YA Angel Romance is my absolute favorite genre (hence, my own book "Genesis") and I haven't been this happy about angels since Cynthia Hand's "Unearthly" series. While this book had more blood and gore than I normally like, it centered around Evie becoming a (half) Seraph and realizing she had a soul mate, but choosing to surrender to the pull from her guardian angel. I loved the way Bartol wrote the characters as well as the college setting. I was also surprised by the betrayal of a close friend in the end.
Can't wait to start Book #2!

Paranormal Romance
Everyone was raving about this book so you can imagine I was chomping at the bit when I could download it, I listened with baited breath straight away.
First off Zeller narrates wonderfully, it's the story, plot and characters that did not do for me, there was nothing new and I found the love triangle confusing, without giving away the plot it is difficult to explain, suffice to say it was as if Evie wanted her cake and the whole patisserie shop.
I found the plot spread too thin, but if you like romantic entanglements, with a hint of trouble to come, peppered with the odd bit of action this might be for you.
I don't like to be harsh but I was just plain bored obviously not for me, premise was great, just did not deliver.. don't let me put you off though there's lots of people who would disagree and swear by this new series.
