Publisher's summary

In the isolated sanctuary of her Montana ranch, no one could hurt Brooke Kennedy, whose gift had led her to build walls of ice around her heart. One person had stormed those barricades: her friend Pepper, who embraced the world and meddled in the lives of those she loved. Now Brooke needed help, and Pepper sent troubleshooter Cody Nash to melt the barriers Brooke had raised.

A golden man whose tender persuasion opened the door to the maze that was Brooke's soul, Cody dared face the fire-breathing dragons that haunted her mind. But first, Brooke had to believe that he loved her -- enough to catch her when she fell off the edge of the world...

Delightful and slightly paranormal

I thought this was a delightful story and only slightly paranormal in my opinion. There's a lot of love, no real suspense, only minor cursing (such as hell) and no gratuitous sex. It's just a happy story of love and reawakening of self. Also includes wolves, a cantankerous burro and a bit of self-important felines.

I enjoyed this narrator and felt her voice fit this type story. The ussual Kay Hooper might not have been as good a fit with its more serious suspense.

It was pleasant

I actually prefer the novels Kay writes about special senses used to solve crimes. This was fine it was well read and written, however it was a bit of a disappointment that it was simply a love story.

A bad romance novel

I have read and enjoyed many of Kay Hoopers books, but this one is horrible. At some points the reader actually sounded like an automated voice. It made me think of someone’s first try at writing maybe. Good try but didn’t quite hit the mark.

Disappointed

I've read Kay Hooper in the past and really enjoyed her books. I was disappointed with this one; it started with a promising story line and then just mired down with what felt like the same sappy lines over and over....the rest of the book made me want to skip to the end just to get it over with. To add insult to injury; the narrator used the most awful accents for the characters. Don't waste your credits or your time.

Don't bother

This was probably the most boring book I've ever "read". It's cheap and mercifully short, but not worth it.

More than disappointed: Reader Beware

This must have been her 1st book because the characters were flat & the dialogue was almpst.cringe worthy. One star for the author & one for the narrator, who was better than what she was narrating. I have read Ms Hooper's other booksb& really enjoyed them. She is a good author now. Sometimes there should be more information to warn readers about the quality of an author's early efforts. This book was written in 1984, 35 years ago & it reads like it. More warning Audible, please.
