Some good parts and some not so good

I do appreciate brevity but I think this was an extreme. Also a lot of the word count was wasted with little titles that were supposed to be clever or funny but they were just repetitive, cliche and confusing. if they had removed all of those then 1/3 of the total word count of the book would have been available for some more sustenance and meat.

But there were definitely some interesting sections. I especially liked the chapter about networking and job hunting and using LinkedIn.

I thought it was funny how the book started off talking about wine and then ended talking about voting, that's totally the Skimms style lol :)

Interesting

Overall it was a good summation of helpful life facts. Though the end was very long in it's explanation of the world and government it was also some of the most helpful and in depth of the sections. Ironically the wine section was without a doubt the dryest section. I enjoyed it overall as a useful refresher in some cases, and informative in other sections.

For a younger generation or for a refresher

I loved the narration of this audio book. The book itself is exactly as titled. This book provides great information to those that did not pay attention in school or that just need a refresher on the details of stuff. From which wines to drink with which foods (drink what you like, but some taste better with certain foods) to details about what makes up our government and about other countries and how they it works in a general sense. It may leave you wanting more to listen to.

Great for the young, redundant for the old

I LOVE the Skimm, I think everyone should subscribe to their emails and listen to their podcasts. I was super excited for this book. It's written in their signature witty style and is entertaining, but the information is basic. This book would be terrific for someone that is just graduating from high school or even college. But as a person that has been in the real world for over 15 years, I know the vast majority of this stuff, less than 5% of this book is new info to me. I will continue to be a fan, but I would only recommend this book to the youngest of my acquaintances.

Stuff I knew already

Good information but general to the point of common Sense. Good read for Gen Y's.

Don't Waste Your Time

Not very much new here imho. boring. I couldn't make it through half the book and I've listened to Atlas Shrugged.

This book is for 20 yr old girls...

I made through the first couple of chapters not wanting to waste my credit, but that's all I could take. The title should be "How to skim your life: some quick rules of thumb for 20 yr old girls." There is some good information here, just not for a middle aged man who thought the title was interesting. I should have listened more closely to the sample. Live and learn. Oh well.
