Publisher's summary

The internationally best-selling self-empowerment work from influencer, rapper, and spoken-word artist Humble the Poet, now available in a new edition with a new foreword by the author. Unlearn offers short, accessible, and counterintuitive lessons for reaching our full potential.

Beloved for his sincerity, playfulness, and sage advice, globally famous rapper, spoken-word artist, poet, blogger, and influencer Humble the Poet has traditionally shared his message of self-discovery, creativity, and empowerment with his fans through music and written word. That message has now been extended to this empowering audiobook, offering insights and wisdom that challenge conventional thinking and help you tap into your best, most authentic self.

Humble sees life with unique clarity. In Unlearn, he opens our eyes to our own lives, helping us to recognize the possibilities that await us and the challenges that prevent us from realizing our dreams. With his characteristic honesty and forthrightness, he helps us shed the problematic lessons we’ve learned throughout our lives that limit us, from sabotaging habits, to fixed mind-sets, to past regrets, and relearn new, unconventional ways of moving through life.

Among his 101 lessons are:

  • Fitting in is a pointless activity
  • Don’t trust everything you feel
  • Killing expectations births happiness
  • Comparisons are killer
  • Baby steps add up
  • You decide your worth

Profound in its simplicity, Unlearn is the perfect invitation to a new beginning and to pursue a life of fulfillment.

It’s Okay

I think this book is meant for those who are not use to reading intellectual habit changing self help books. I would recommend Atomic Habits. This book just talks about his journey, and to be honest, he hasn’t accomplished that much. I would recommend you listen to an author who has gone through more, and accomplished more in life. However, that doesn’t mean he is bad or unsuccessful. What I mean is that this author cannot give you science and research backed advise. He’s only stating experiences from his life, and I don’t know how much that’s valuable, since he is still on his journey to the top. My take away from this book - just don’t give up.

It doesn't give you the tools to Unlearn

The author starts with quotes , telling you to live better. But it doesn't state how to implement them towards bad habits or thoughts for the betterment of oneself. Based off the title you would think it's strategies to use in your life or goals; but it's not. It's a book of feel good philosophy quotes without the instructions on how to apply them.

Too obvious

Book is a set of obvious and sometimes contradictory things, but narrated as ultimate truth

"Comparison is the thief of joy..."

I loved this book! I could listen to it over and over . There are many books that offer insight similar to what is said in this book. But Humble's delivery and words grab me and actually motivate me. I will listen to this over and over if I have to, but it's totally worth it. Thank you universe ( and Humble the Poet) for bringing this into my life.

Awesome a gift for any reason especially for those who are struggling through life.

Simple not fancy and straight to the point.

Worth a credit!

Loved that the author was also the narrator! None of the truths in the book were new truths to me, but served as little reminders.

And to the point he went...

Great read! I love how straight forward he is with his information. no, he's not trying to be some "self help" guru...this book literally felt like sitting with a good friend for some honest advice!!

lessons

these are some of the best lessons to apply to life. you set people up to be the happiest and most fulfilled in their own lives. while actually focusing on the positives and not dwelling on less desirable outcomes.
