Unforgettable

Wow!! What a stunningly written story. Haunted Souls is an incredibly captivating and unforgettable second chance romance with supernatural elements. The storyline is compelling, engaging, and beautifully written, depicting an uncertain relationship and the bond of family, with a ghost in the center of it all. The characters are complex, flawed, and positively authentic. I could easily sympathize with both the characters' struggles while relating to their emotions of guilt and wariness.

The narration by Kristin James is excellent. She portrayed the characters' personalities and moods very nicely, bringing them to life. Overall, this was a very enjoyable listen, one I strongly recommend. I was given a free copy of this audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this unbiased review.

More than a Ghost Story!

What a book! I loved the original storyline this book had. The imaginary friend of their son was so much more than expected. I loved how the couple healed each other and revealed their secrets. The book has some very unexpected twists in the story, which added to it. This book is part romance, part suspense, and part paranormal which worked out so well. I was pulled into the book from the very beginning and thought the ending was so fitting. I requested this review copy audiobook and have voluntarily written this review. I thought the narration on this book added to the enjoyment, with the distinguished voices for various characters. I will definitely listen to more books by Kathryn Knight and Kristin James.

Stunning

First, loved this audio.
I was hooked from the very beginning. Emily Shea and Staff Sergeant Brett Leeds agreed to part with no strings attached. So why when he comes back 4 years later he's all pissed off when Emily tells him about his son? Men! Their son Tyler has an imaginary friend. (Chills!) Holy crap, so good! Kathryn Knight wrote a wonderful book. Loved it!
Kristin James narrated perfect! I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review. To be honest I would not have chosen Haunted Souls. So glad I did! I am planning on a second listen. Job well done.
Can't wait to hear more of Kathryn and Kristin.

This is a Remarkable Story!

The 2 adult main characters in this story have a history from several years ago and then have not interacted since until he comes back to the Cape. This Story at least for me is quite realistic in how bad memories affect people and Military personnel who have been in combat. The Narrator did a wonderful job of bringing the characters to life.
I highly recommend this book.

Nothing like you'd expect, A wonderful love story

When I first began to read this book, I definitely didn't imagine that I could walk away from it with all the feels! It's such a sweet love story. The characters are very easy to connect to and empathize with in their struggles. The narrator does an awesome job switching between characters and I still felt like I was being transported into their world. I have read all of Kathryn Knight's books and although this isn't my most favorite, I was not surprised to be immediately sucked in and want to know what was going to happen when 3 year old Tyler brings home a new friend, a ghost.

Great story.

Great read. Loved Emily and Bretts story. Emily Shea and USAF Staff Sergeant Brett Leeds have a short and wild, no strings attached, fling and then go their separate ways. Four years later, and after a couple of deployments, Brett returns home and receives some life changing news from Emily. In the process, Emily soon discovers that there's more than one haunted soul in need of help. Recommend this book. Great narration.

Intriguing

Let me first say the narrator was amazing. Her voices especially of little Tyler were spot on. She definitely brought the story to life. So much happened in this story. Both adults had so much to deal with and overcome. Throw a ghost into the mix and you've got yourself an enjoyable and intriguing story. Good story!!

I love everything about this story

Audiobook Review…Kristin James is a new to me narrator who I will now look for more from. She took a story I was familiar with, since I had read the book first, and brought it to life. The characters emotions were real, the happenings in the book seemed to be real, and the story was real. Kristin’s voice was easy to listen to and she has a real talent in changing her tone to match what the story was needing. Kathryn Knight wrote an amazing book and Kristin did an amazing job narrating the book.

eBook Review…I am a fan of Kathryn Knight’s other books. Each one I have read, devoured, and loved. Haunted Souls is the same way. I received the book, started it, and could not put it down. I felt like there was a bonus story in this book. The story of Tyler and his ghost friend, Josiah, was the main story with the bonus of Emily and Brett’s love story.

The ghost story gave me goose bumps so many times. I could not imagine being in Emily’s shoes watching her 4 year old son interact with a person only he could see. Yet, Emily never doubted Josiah’s existence. Josiah did not directly interact with Emily but he did let her know he was there, many times. With each of these times I reacted in fear for Tyler and awe of how calm Emily managed to stay. I believe I would have acted more like Brett. The disbelief of what his son was saying and being unsure how to react. I am thankful that Tyler had his mom to protect him, believe him, and help him get Josiah back to his mother.

Emily and Brett’s story was not unique in that a soldier comes home on break. Girl gets pregnant and soldier goes back to war. The difference is how Emily handled it. Instead of freaking out, she did what she had to do to keep her baby safe. The choices she made were not easy. I admired how she became a single mom, struggling, yet never giving up. I also admired how she handled Brett’s coming home and finding out about Tyler. She didn’t place blame, in fact she shouldered more blame that she should have. She trusted that Brett would be able to step into their life and put Tyler’s happiness first. Brett did not disappoint either. He became the man that both Emily and Tyler needed. Kathryn Knight wrote their love story in very real terms. It was not instant fall back into a relationship. There were trust issues to deal with, histories to come to terms with, and a friendship to reestablish. The attraction was still there, but both knew they needed more to become a family.

I certainly recommend checking out Haunted Souls.

an intense, haunting tale

Emily and Brett were once an item, but Brett leaves Emily alone to go for training. Emily searches for Brett, but comes up short and must raise Tyler alone. Brett returns to the surprise that will change his life. During a tour to a local historic prison, Tyler meets a friend, Josiah. Bringing Josiah home with him, Tyler promises to share his mom. Emily thinks Tyler has an imaginary friend until things start to go bump in the night. Kathryn Knight has a way with twisting so many lives into one story and bringing together the spiritual and physical worlds. Haunted Souls is a haunting tale of how different things were in the past, yet how strong the love between a mother and child is. There are so many characters, each with their own issues that weave together this story of love, trust and second chances. I cannot wait for another story by Kathryn Knight,

Kristin James brings this haunting tale to life. Her ability to narrate the intense, haunting drama as it unfolded, made me have goosebumps. Ms. James ability to keep all the characters distinct really helped with the ease of following the story. The suspenseful scenes kept me on the edge of my seat as Ms. James narrated. I hope to hear more from Kristin James.

Such a good story!

I love romance books, but when paired with a good ghost story, it's like gold. Kathryn Knight has combined a little history, a little paranormal, some real life issues and a second chance at romance and given us just that! Emily and Brett met four years earlier and hit it off. Brett leaves for his training and now back has the surprise of his life. Tyler, their son is a smart, intuitive child who has brought home a spirit from a local history tour. Mix in some PTSD and domestic violence and we have a great story. I love Emily, her character is full of passion, loves fiercely and will do anything to help her friend. Brett is a strong, alpha type make who has a loyalty and love like no other. But will they be able to overcome the obstacles in their way to find their happiness? I think my favorite character is Josiah and his story. Knight surrounds suspense around the 12 year old spirit and Tyler with great visuals of his life. The melding of all the stories together flowed with ease and had me wanting to listen straight through. It's a great story!

Narrated by Kristen James, the story is brought to life with such wonderful voicing, it's impossible to put it down. She is a great storyteller and gave each character it's own voice and personality. She is a talent not to be missed.
