Publisher's summary

Now that Lyr has survived the Imperator's cruel punishment, she has only three months to prepare for the test that will decide her fate. Despite Rhyan's promise of additional training, her life has never been in more danger.

Enemies known and unknown get closer every day. While the Imperator's soldiers occupy the city, the Emartis rebels grow bolder, marking Lyr as their target.

Staying safe means more time under Rhyan's protection. But the closer they become, the more their desire ignites, the harder it becomes to resist temptation.

Secrets can only remain hidden for so long. Even ones Lyr bled for.

As new threats arrive at the Bamarian border, Lyr delves deeper into solving the mystery of her power. But revealing these secrets and surviving the Emperor's test may cost Lyr more than she can bargain for.

Loyalty will be tested. Lines will be crossed. Ancient promises will be reforged.

And most dangerous of all: as passion burns, oaths will be broken.

Fantastic story!

I have been captivated by this story, hanging to every piece. My only disappointment is I haven’t found the next book in audible!

Truly special

This series is truly special. I cannot compliment the author enough on her ability to not only unfold a multilayered story, but to also showcase relationships and feelings between characters in an amazingly authentic fashion. The highs are high and you feel the lows in the plot with so many twists and turns. The caliber of writing is truly special, and refreshing after so many listens that have good plots but no depth. More please!

Must read

Don’t question whether you will like this series or whether you should read these books, just do it. You won’t be sorry.
Guardian of the drowned empire is the second book in this series, the heir of Daughter you can say… the story is everything and more. If you love a good page turning adventure filled with a slow burn romance you picked the right books. The second book had me craving for the next, and wanting more even though every page pulled on my heart and made me love all these characters even more. Read the series and you’ll understand.

Started slow but then…

It started off a little slow, and the beginning wasn’t that interesting, but then midway things got more interesting. I really have enjoyed book 1 and this book so far in the series.

I can’t do the abuse

Look, spin it how you want to, but this book feels like dragged out hours of the perspective of someone being abused and told “if you love your family and your country you’ll accept this.” It drags with detailed descriptions of someone being whipped, beaten, and abused constantly. It frustrates. It’s not the escapism I was hoping for.

Weakest Female Lead Ever

I’m so disappointed. It never got better. This could have been a great book. Don’t waste the credit.

meh

very repetitive. 1st and 2nd book could have easily been one book. 2nd book constantly recaped the first to the point it was Soooooo annoying. quite predictable. I had to muscle through to finish the book. only characters I like is Ryan and Morgana. needed way more action less in her head thoughts and feelings. I kept screaming at MC grow the heck up and do something!!!!
