Publisher's summary

Giving up sugar right before Halloween. Brilliant.

Going on vacation with an ex. Not so bright.

Honey and her ex-husband, Max, travel to Sapphire Falls to give their two young children the perfect Halloween treat. Max wants Honey back, and he’s counting on the magic of Sapphire Falls to seduce her into a second chance.

Honey is leery of Max and his tricks, but when he woos her with a Halloween romance complete with bonfires, hayrides, parties, and paintball, Honey warms to the idea of a new beginning.

Unfortunately, there's something off about Max on which Honey can't put her finger. When their vacation goes haywire, Honey must decide whether the treat of true love is worth all the terrible tricks life can play.

The My Country Hearts series is a light-hearted, heart-warming series of romances set in Erin Nicholas' Sapphire Falls world (made available by special license). Enjoy the stories in order or out of order. They are stand-alone and fun either way.

Good Second Chance Romance

I enjoyed this story. I liked that the story took place around Halloween and that it involved so many of the monsters that come out on that night--vampires, zombies, etc. I was pleased that the tale recognized that when a romance fails, it happens because of mistakes made by each participant. I didn't like some of the behavior perpetrated by Max, the ex-husband. Tor Thom's and Charley Ongel's dual narrations were good and added to the story's entertainment. I was given a free copy of the audiobook, and I have voluntarily posted this review.

A great second chance romance

Honey and Max are divorced. Unknown to Honey her in-laws don't know. When she arrives in Saphhire Falls to let her kids enjoy the Halloween festivities. Max didn't want the divorce and still loves Honey. he hopes he can prove to her and win her back. He has set up a nice relaxing vacation for her and his parents are going to watch the kids and take them to all the festivities so Honey can have a bit of time for herself. But is that really what Honey wants?
I love Rachelle Ayala romances. she creates the most believable and relatable characters. Honey is an unpublished author that creates all her heroes in her husband's image but not how she really wants him. Max is OH so sexy. A workaholic providing a very comfortable living for his family because he thinks that is what she wants based on the books she writes. the story is a big communication gap, an awesome second chance romance, fun characters, more fun storyline with some with and a twist or two. Its action packed page turning and Tor Thom has the sexiest voice and makes Max swoon-worthy. Charlie Ongel is a fabulous narrator that brings Hoey to life and together they make the best couple. I highly recommend listening if you can.

Entertaining second chance romance

Audio Review
Rachelle Ayala is a new author to me and I’m really quite new to Audio although I have listen to both Tor Thom and Charley Ongel before and I have to say this duo really did a great job bringing this book to life for me.
Max and Honey are divorced but that doesn’t mean they have fallen out of love with each other in fact Max is trying everything he knows to get his wife back even if it means getting her and his children back to his home town of Sapphire Falls under false pretences and not really being honest with his family about his situation. The small town of Sapphire Falls is caught up in Halloween fever and Max is hoping Honey gets caught up in it as well.....
The narrators did a great job with bringing the small town of Sapphire Falls celebrating Halloween to life and I really felt part of the celebrations, the chemistry between Max and Honey was easy to imagine and the banter flowed naturally. I really enjoyed this book and I’m looking forward to reading and listening to more from this author.

Spooky and swoony with a dash of steam

What a unique story line concept. I love second chances and small towns. Max and Honey had it all on the surface but something was wrong. They divorced and shared the kids, but the love was still there. Could a family trip back to Max hometown in Nebraska bring them back to where they needed to be in their relationship? Tor Thom & Charley Ongel have done a superb job of bringing these characters to life. I look forward to more stories from this little town.

This one is really a must-read or listen too. It was an extraordinary story written by a very talented author. I have three more books from this series to listen to and I cannot wait to read. Second chance romance

When I started listening to this, I was curious how the story was going to go. Not many would want to go on vacation with their ex, but Honey and Max do at Max's hometown. They also pretend that they are still married to all of Max's family and friends. I enjoyed listening to how all things came into place. I also enjoyed the duet narrations of Tor and Charley!

Halloween and 2nd chance love

Honey and Max have been divorced for 2yrs, but she is visiting his hometown of Sapphire Falls with their kids for Halloween. This is supposed to be a treat for the kids to have some time with their absentee dad and also because the town makes a huge deal over Halloween. At first Honey is not impressed, seeing as how Max did not meet them at the airport, leaving her to wrangle to young kids. She is further unimpressed when Max shows up at the hotel, and drops a bomb...his parents and siblings do not know that he's divorced. He begs, and Honey agrees, to go along with his plan to pretend that they're still a couple. Max's ultimate motive is to win back Honey but his seduction attempts are constantly derailed...the image of the kids walking out to the grandparents in Honey's unmentionables is 'spit your coffee out' hilarious! There is something magical about Sapphire Falls and it's beginning to grow on Honey...to the point where she is contemplating a fresh start there with Max...until he reverts to his workaholic ways...aaaand his family finds out that they're divorced. Max is also hiding a huge secret from Honey...can their reunion survive?
This is the start of another wonderful series by this author. I love how she uses different holidays to create magic in small towns. The narration team does a great job with the range of characters.

Treats or Halloween in Sapphire Falls

A Sapphire Falls expat convinces his ex-wife to spend a weekend in at the local Halloween festival in this wholesome look at marital problems and a chance to start over in a new town. A perfect addition to the Sapphire Falls collection with cameo appearances by a bunch of the regulars.
I enjoyed the ghosties and ghoulies as well as the steamy romance.

Hats off to, Rachelle Ayala.

Hats off to, Rachelle Ayala. Going Haywire makes for a tricky treat. Max wants his family back and he's willing to pull out all the stops to win back his one true love. Honey is wary, Max is daring, circumstances are hairy and things are about to get scary. Honey, Max and their antics kept me guessing until the bitter end. A slight of hand, clever twists, were there clues I surely missed? Discovering the mystery is half the fun and the shocking end is sure to stun.
