Publisher's summary

A sexy, hilarious, emotional new romance from New York Times best-selling author Emma Chase.

Connor Daniels never thought he’d be starting at dating square one again. His career as a successful doctor, and his three boys, are everything to him. It’s not exactly a setup conducive to a scorching love life - but he’s giving it a shot.

ER nurse Violet Robinson never intended for Connor to find out she’s had a crush on him forever. It was a dirty little secret only meant for her dirty dreams. Her heart trips every time he’s around - and so do her feet.

When Connor sees Violet coasting across the grocery store parking lot - and she falls on her face - he starts falling for the gorgeous young nurse right back.

Dating can be tricky. And life can be beautiful and crazy and unpredictable. But when it gets real, you discover what matters most...and the one person you want loving you through it all.

Perfection!!!

This is one of my all time favorite series! I read a lot of different romance authors, but my husband says he knows exactly when I’m reading one by Emma Chase bc he constantly hears me laughing out loud! She’s the best! This book is a beautiful continuation of the Daniels family and Lakeside community. It portrays the difficulty and heartbreak of divorce while instilling hope in the redemption that comes with a new love. I recommend all 3 books currently in the series and hope there will be more ❤️

Response to a Lengthy Tirade on Sexism…and an AMAZING book!

To the reviewer going on about sexism…I’d just like to say that while you have some valid points about sexism in general, you might have gone a little far considering this is a book review. It may not be the time to jump on our soap boxes and full-on vent our life frustrations. If you look hard enough for something, you will find it. I personally, after reading this story, did not feel it promotes sexism. Further, any book/show/movie depicting characters in a particular profession are going to get some of it wrong. Period. Especially in the fields of medicine, law and psychology. I believe any inaccuracies can be easily dismissed if you focus on the characters and the love story that unfolds. This book happens to be about a male doctor and a female nurse. This is THEIR love story. And it was a beautiful one at that. Enjoyed the steamy scenes mixed with sweet, wholesome family moments. There were some real tear jerker moments as well. Narrated by two of my favorites! What a treat…free listen with membership! Definitely recommend. Do not miss this one because someone got on her feminist soapbox. Sincerely, not an anti-feminist plus, and, also, without a doubt, a lover of Emma Chase.

Another great love story.

I am a big fan of this series and Getting Real is a wonderful addition. It is a funny, witty, emotional, and loving story about second chances. We meet Connor in his brother Garrett‘s book, and now we finally got to see him meet his perfect match in Violet. Violet is a amazing woman with so much to give who is fits right into the Daniels family. And as always Andi Arndt and Zachary Webb were perfect.

#Relationship Adulting done well!!!

I loved this book! It’s nice to finally read a book where there are adults who can have a conversation and talk about their concerns and miscommunications. I also appreciate that the main character is a woman who isn’t whinny or a pushover. Who may have dialogues in her head but then they are expressed like real people to the man she cares about. I loved seeing the growth of their relationship and seeing them fall in love. This was a breath of fresh air from all the other romance books I’ve been reading! Great job, I highly recommend.

Best narrators

Both narrators did a fantastic job, esp Zachary as he portrayed each son and their kid sarcasm, whining and bickering. Fun to listen to. The writing was excellent and I found myself chuckling in many spots. “Jesus take the wheel, and make it a convertible so you can whack Connor in the head with a low lying branch!” The story is good, with a beautiful romance, lovable kids, drama and angst, bumps in the road, but leading to a warm HEA.

Very Real

Props to Andi and Zach for a most excellent narration. Zach narrated with such emotion this time he brought me to tears. So many aspects of this story hit home for me. I know a few nurses and what they go through on a daily basis. I'm a parent and I can also relate to divorce. Not only for myself but my youngest son separated from his wife last year.

Emma wrote such relatable characters and situations. This was one book I found very hard to stop listening to until I was finished.

I really am liking this new series.

soooooo gooood!!!!!!!

I had been waiting for a few weeks for this release and it didn't disappoint! I out loud belly laughed more than once throughout this awesome performance. My husband and I created a blended family with 4 boys total ages 21, 19, 18 and 8 and this couldn't have been any more accurate in how they communicate with each other. Emma way to go!!!

So much to love!

It was such a wonderful surprise to see this title listed in my Audible Plus options! You simply can’t go wrong with Andi Arndt or Zachary Webber, and getting them both as narrators is a guaranteed good listen. Then to have a continuation of this series from Emma Chase just made this a trifecta of awesome. I loved the heart in this story. I actually teared up a few times! I enjoyed the low angst, characters I was actually interested in, and the HEA I crave.

5 SIGH-WORTHY DR. CONNOR STARS!

Get your earbuds ready—STAT--because GETTING REAL by Emma Chase is finally here! This single dad, doctor/nurse workplace romance is guaranteed to make you swoon, leave you in stitches and even have you blinking back buckets of tears!

Sighhh! This third highly anticipated standalone installment in the Getting Some series is so sweet, steamy, heartwarming and lol funny!! And let me tell you…you might need that defibrillator handy because Connor Daniels is one sinfully sexy, heartstoppingly handsome MD Daddy! As the busy, big hearted ER doc navigates life post-divorce with his three boys, a one-night hookup with beautiful Nurse Violet Robinson sets him on an unexpected path to forever love….

Unbeknownst to him, his kind-hearted, adorable accident-prone colleague has harbored a hopeless crush on Connor for eons, and surprise, surprise—the busy single dad has had his eye on her too. But he felt he should keep his distance because of their 12-year age difference. But when the smitten medics are thrown together at his buddy, Dean’s, wedding, champagne flows and sparks fly aplenty!

I loved this Audible Original audiobook something FIERCE. In fact, it was so wildly addictive I didn’t want to stop listening! GETTING REAL is a fun, humorous, hot and spicy, highly engaging listen with a plethora of feels, scorching hot sexcapades, warm family bonding and oodles of feels! I adored every sweet, scintillating, heart palpitating moment of this story. Starting with how effortless it was for Vi and Connor to fit into each other lives. Despite their emotional baggage, falling in love for these two was not hard or complicated, or filled with OTT melodrama, but rather they blended so well together that it felt beautifully, BREATHTAKINGLY real! And organic. Perhaps even predestined. I love how after some painstakingly awkward missteps on both their parts, Violet managed to resuscitate this divorced dad’s heart and, in turn, how he turned all her secret fantasies and girlhood dreams into reality!!

But Connor and his sons are a PACKAGE deal. Fortunately, it doesn’t take long for his boys to fall under Vi’s spell too. I cherished the interaction with Connor’s kids, Aaron, Spencer and Braden, who the MD dad was 100 percent devoted to even when they made him want to tear his hair out! Which provided not only hysterical lol moments but also heart-tugging poignancy too! And, of course, the scenes between Connor and his bros/buddy Dean and his crazy lovable parents were true highlights!

Red hot romance and family bonding aside, I loved how the author transports us inside the chaotic and frenzied world of the ER as the MCs worked side by side, dealing with life and death situations on a daily basis. I found the medical drama lent an aura of adrenaline pumping excitement and riveting intensity to this romcom which elevated it to an even higher plane!

But CODE BLUE ALERT! Just when you thought that this book is all sunshine and rainbows…KABOOM! Brace yourself for a heart stuttering plot twist that’s guaranteed to bring you to your knees, have you choking back tears and BEGGING for a miracle! My lips are sealed on how everything plays out but I will say that the writing and the performances packed a MASSIVE punch.

Speaking of which…the Audible narration by Zachary Webber and Andi Arndt was sublime! They captured the heartwarming, fun and flirty, and rich complexity, of these characters to a T. Not only does Mr. Webber bring this gruffly sexy ER doc to flesh and blood life, delivering, in my opinion, one of his finest performances to date when the hero finds himself grappling with a potentially life-altering family crisis, but he is wicked talented at kids voices too. And his portrayal of Connor’s boys, in which he gives them each distinct personalities and inflections, was utterly adorable! As for Ms. Arndt, she infused Nurse Violet with an endearing blend of sweetness, sass, bumbling awkwardness, aching vulnerability and HEART to make this character shine!

BOTTOM LINE:
I truly cannot rave enough about GETTING REAL. I have so much love for this Getting Some series and each book carves a unique place in my heart. So, if you crave a captivating, ovary combusting single dad romance that will make you laugh and cry, tingle from head to toe, swoon like a schoolgirl, and is capped off by an HEA that will leave you positively GIDDY, then this book is not to be missed!

Very predictedable, and I'm not sure why we had to keep having the first and surname of the main character told to us all the time, we are not going to forget it every 3 or 4 minutes.

Loved this story

I think it’s refreshing to hear stories that aren’t too over dramatized and over the top where the characters grow together and act maturely as supposed to selfish overreacting assholes. This story got me invested in the characters and their relationship and made me laugh out loud and also brought a tear to my eye occasionally. Can really recommend to anyone that want a little sizzling romance and a story that bring out the good in the characters.
Also can I just say the narrators are amazing! Andi is one of my favorites since I started to listen to audiobooks and Zachary quickly made it up there as well. His voice is yummy and suited the character of the male lead so well.

Perfection!

This book is fantastic! I loved every second! The story feels like a real journey for the characters, who are endearing and well rounded and wonderfully well balanced and the communication between the MCs is so appealing and heartwarming and refreshing. It is laugh out loud funny in places and tears in your eyes, edge of your seat heart-wrenching in others. And I do not have enough words to compliment the narrators on their performances - they are sublime! A really wonderful story and audio book!

Cute and not overly complicated

Violet and Connor's story is pretty straightforward. The characters are run of the mill, both likeable, both really into each other and the whole thing wraps up very neatly at the end. Not too deep. Easy listen.
