There Eddard Stark of Winterfell rules in Robert's name. Far to the north, behind the towering Wall, lie savage Wildings and worse - unnatural things relegated to myth during the centuries-long summer, but proving all too real and all too deadly in the turning of the season. Publisher's Summary
Brace yourself for Gemina — the highly anticipated sequel to the book critics called “out-of-this-world awesome,” — featuring journal illustrations by best-selling author Marie Lu!
Moving to a space station at the edge of the galaxy was always going to be the death of Hanna's social life. Nobody said it might actually get her killed.
The sci-fi saga that began with the breakout best seller Illuminae continues onboard the Jump Station Heimdall, where two new characters will confront the next wave of the BeiTech assault.
Hanna is the station captain's pampered daughter, Nik the reluctant member of a notorious crime family. But while the pair are struggling with the realities of life aboard the galaxy's most boring space station, little do they know that Kady Grant and the Hypatia are headed right toward Heimdall, carrying news of the Kerenza invasion.
When an elite BeiTech strike team invades the station, Hanna and Nik are thrown together to defend their home. But alien predators are picking off the station residents one by one, and a malfunction in the station's wormhole means the space-time continuum might be ripped in two before dinner. Soon Hanna and Nik aren't just fighting for their own survival; the fate of everyone on the Hypatia - and possibly the known universe - is in their hands.
But relax. They've totally got this. They hope.
Once again told through a compelling dossier of emails, IMs, classified files, transcripts, and schematics, Gemina raises the stakes of the Illuminae Files, hurling listeners into an enthralling new story that will leave them breathless.
Narrated by Carla Corvo, MacLeod Andrews, Steve West, Erik Davies, Lisa Cordileone, and a full cast.

Ehhh
So I really enjoyed illuminae (the first book in the series) however I found it really hard to grasp the story line in Gemina. I was about to give up on the book, but I kept going to give it a chance. The first three hours were realllly hard to keep listening- I’d roll my eyes at how non eventful the storyline was... it was almost like I was listening to someone tell me something so unimportant for 3 hours. It started to pick up and was “ok” until 2 hours when the story was almost over. That’s when it was most interesting .... 2 hours before the story ended... on a 12 -1/2 hr book. Pretty disappointed, had higher hopes for this.

Nonstop roller coaster ride
If you could sum up Gemina in three words, what would they be?
Epic Space Opera.
What did you like best about this story?
The different points of view.
What does the narrators bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?
Lots of weight and immediacy.
If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?
Don't Blink.
Any additional comments?
Nice mix of young adult romance with epic space battles done in a documentary style with a touch of Game of Thrones.

Die Hard meets Aliens meets Home Alone
I don’t know what kind of dust Amie Kaufman and Jay Kristoff use, but it’s grade A Breaking Bade blue level Sh!¥! How they come up with these plot lines and tie them all together is just insane. Fantastic, but insane! As I’ve said about book 1, this is Expanse level sci-if.
Most sequels will focus on the characters from the previous book. Either trying to deepen the characters by showing them in new situations. Gemina, invents an entirely new cast of characters and makes them just as important to the story as everyone in book 1. Then neatly ties it all together in a way that both makes sense and makes you stop and cheer.
The cast, once again, does an amazing job of bringing this book to life.
My only complaint is, stop with the bleeping of curse words. This just in, people curse. It’s a fact of life. It doesn’t matter if you stub your toe, get shot, or spill red wine on your rug. An expletive is going to leave your mouth, and it’s not going to be howdy doody. I’ve listened to so many books where every other word was an f-bomb or curse, The way it’s done in these books is just f-ing annoying!

Good story - long winded presentation
I like the story but the endless repetition of unnecessary @heimdalonboard, etc just gets boring. Very good use of the medium so it's more of a radio play than a spoken book.

Not as Good as Book 1 But Still Worth a Read
This is my 2nd time through this one, and while I still love the concept and the interesting characters, there is still something about this one that just doesn't flow as well for me. It doesn't quite touch the awesome space that book one lives in, even though I do still love the format. It also has pretty good world building, and some interesting sci-fi and space time concepts.
I can't quit put my finger on the disconnect. The first time I read it, I thought maybe it was me and I was being a poor reader. This time through, I realized it's not me, or at least it's not be being a bad reader. This just doesn't click in and fit easily like book one. I got confused a lot more, found myself rewinding more, and I had trouble connecting to and remembering some of the side characters.
It's a solid effort, and still has a unique plot. But I can't love it in the way I loved book 1.
PREVIOUS REVIEW:
This is book 2 in a kick-ass YA Sci-Fi Series, and I absolutely adore the audiobook!
I confess that I don't love book 2 quite as intensely as I did book one, but it's still a good, exciting story with several surprises. The new characters are unexpected and enjoyable, with strong voices, and the bit of romance burns slower than it did in book one (for better or worse).
I spread out the reading over a long period of time, due to personal chaos, which may have impacted the overall flow when I read it. I'll probably read or listen to this book again at some point, so I'll update my star rating at that time, if a second read changes my perspective.
I want more of this world and format, so I hope this series goes on for a long time or branches out into something new. Either way, but I don't want it to end.

Another Great Book in the Series
I loved this book! The performance and format make it so cool to listen to!! This time, the main characters are Hannah and Nick. Despite this, Kady and Ezra are also a big part of this book. Just like the first, it was full of humor, romance, sadness, Andi was epic! The unpredictable twists made the pace quicken! However, the beginning was very slow and kind of boring. If I had to choose, I liked the first book a bit better. I can't wait for the last one!!
