Publisher's summary

War isn't coming. It's already being waged.

While the universe was still young, vambraces were forged, giving their users extraordinary abilities. A brutal war was won through the blood and sacrifice of patriots. Soon, the vambraces faded to legend.

A secret task force. A wormhole portal discovered...

Now, Frank and Marine Space Corps-1 find themselves across the galaxy, where an ancient evil is growing. From exploratory crew to the front of enemy lines, Frank will have to decide whether to play the part of hero or to be the Marine needed to win the war.

Because the victor takes the universe.

The vambraces will be found again. A new order of knights will be chosen. And once again light will do battle with darkness.

Includes a special bonus note from the authors.

Brightest day Blackest night

THIS DUDE IS THE GREEN LANTERN.

In brightest day, in blackest night,
No evil shall escape my sight.
Let those who worship evil's might
Beware my power--Green Lantern's light!

sci-fi sprinkled with fantasy and I love it

honestly this book was a good refreshment after tons of titles between the likes of sci-fi and fantasy with litrpg mixed in.
This book seems to be like the Popeye secret recipe in that regard. although the magic side of things is kinda comic like.
that's the only way to put it without spoilers but if your a comic fan you'll understand soon anyway.
Scott aiello is one of my favorite narrators simply because of the relaxed way of speaking and conveying emotion. This also relates very well to the authors' humor and characters.
I would recommend this to anyone. and I DEFINITELY mean anyone. Unless your a drama junkie or s@x addict...
anyway that's my opinion and I hope that you'll give the book a try.

part firefly, part stargate, part Johnny quest.

All rolled together with a bit of tounge-in-cheeck humor. I think I got goosebumps a few times listening, the story kept a good pace and held my interest until my commute to and from work flew by.

Good books

With combination of the writers and reader I was very impressed. I got a nice Ryan Reynolds feel from the MC and as I enjoy him and Deadpool it was nice. The only thing I could say towards the negative would be how fast the story progressed. Everything happened in the span of maybe just over a week. Other then that great story and characters.

Some unique concepts but more Fantasy then Sci-Fi

There was a portal, space ships and galactic conquest but the story was more lord of the rings goes to the galaxy then true Sci-Fi. Maybe Audible needs to separate these types of books instead of listing Sci-fi/Fantasy together.

great story, has potential

I love the idea behind the book, and the delivery was on point, for the character styles.

However, the writing style, content, and delivery all lean on a weird point between being written to entice adolescents into the series, or pulling in those interested in a serious story written in an more world weary point of view.
-seems like this was written for pre/teens but angled towards adults-

most of the antagonism seemed to have a lack of imagination and solidity behind it; the protagonist solution always seemed to be just as malleable, but lackluster. same with the interpersonal relationships, very vanilla and spiceless.

overall, not a bad story, but did not involve the imagination and intrigue to keep me listening for long periods of time, and at points, I felt I was only listening just to get through the book and move on to another.

I liked it

maybe, maybe for a younger audience..... I don't know.... I liked it... but I am not sure I will do 4, 5 and 6 even though I already own them..... maybe later... Cliche at times maybe... ??? too predictable... very nice performance... well produced. I love the Mariners but not sure I ever want to hear hooraa..... however that is spelled again. still the bird epilogue was good .... so I bet I move on to learn more about that character.... hard to envision him... I wish there was more detail regarding alien appearance... is he a MAN with a beak and feathers or does he look like a big chicken.... hope that become clearer.... like the empress ... all that time .... she is purple... what else????
