I spent my last credit on this steamy pile of dung

I tried. I really did. I forced my way through 5 hours of this garbage. It never got better. If anything it either progressively got worse, or it's lack of improvement just pissed me off more and more.

The narrator's voice was achingly bad... and yet it was probably the best thing about the story.

I haven't looked the author up, but if his writing style is any clue, I'm going to guess he is about 13 years old, with no formal story writing training or education.

There was no character development... just a ridiculous hero, going through life like a normal millennial on his way to an engineering Masters program... when Bam!! He is left some mystical swords as an inheritance. Good thing he conveniently received all of that ninja training from his grandfather while he was growing up, because now he is prepared to handily defeat seasoned warriors and warlocks after making his way to another world... with dragons.

The dialogue made me cringe so hard, I pulled some face muscles. The developing love story made me seriously wanna toss my cookies. It was so predictable and unoriginal that what didn't nauseate me, just made me angry.

I'm upset at the misleading rave reviews. I feel sorry for those listeners if this is the best they've found so far.

I personally want a refund and compensation for the suffering this book caused me.

Rough Start But a Solid Series.

I gave the omnibus 4 stars primarily because I don't want to scare potential listeners away from these books. I wasn't sure about the quality of them as I got through the first book. The dialogue was overly dramatic and it took away from the relatively unique storyline. However, as the books progressed the author went away from the gratuitous drama and I sincerely enjoyed the rest of the books. I'm excited to hear the upcoming books. I definitely recommend this one but I'm giving fair warning that the first book may be tough to get through for hardcore fans of this genre.

Not worth it even for 3 books

Vikas Adams is wonderful as always. However the writing of this book is so full of Mary Sue (or Gary Stu) that I may have strained my eyes rolling them. Characters are one dimensional, messages are conflicting and world itself feels like a cardboard cutout. I wont go so far as to say it's actively bad, but there are far better works to spend your credits on.

Dull and predictable

The story from beginning to the end was dull and predictable. Battles felt unfinished and pointless. Solutions to all problems were the equivalent of just hit it harder. The resolutions were unsatisfying.

Aggressively mediocre and painfully predictable.

You would think that in three books the author would find more than one way to describe various characters. Nope. Repetitive and having the creative flair of a See Spot Run book. The plot line was also ridiculously predictable.

Save your credit, look elsewhere.

Reads like a bad Japanese anime translation.

when they say things like "Hello Captain Commander. How are u Captain Commander?" I know something is getting lost in the translation.

just...bad.

nothing in the story hooks you in in the first three hours of listening. I don't give two craps about the main character. I don't care about all the people that are close to him have died, I don't care about any of the hardships he's going through. There's nothing to make me connect with the protagonist and that is 3 hours not well spent.

horrible

this is the first book I have ever returned. narration is horrendous, his idea of emotion is tempo, along with the inability to pronounce words properly.

Okay

The story was okay but the accents were terrible. All the alians have a weird Asian Indian accent like Abu from the Simpson's.
It starts out more fantasy then becomes sci-fi.
