Publisher's Summary

Improve your reading and listening comprehension and make learning new vocabulary so much easier with seven French short stories.

Introducing a fun and effective method of learning French

When you can't slip away from daily life to immerse yourself in a French-speaking country, listening to French stories is the next best thing. By learning this way you will be able to:

  • Understand grammar concepts without the monotonous chore of memorizing rules
  • Grasp new vocabulary that you can immediately put to use in everyday conversations
  • Practice your listening skills with the stories narrated by a native French speaker

Familiarize yourself with spoken French. The over ten hours of audio recorded by French native speakers will drastically improve your pronunciation as well.

Each story is recorded in several ways:

  • Female voice
  • Male voice
  • Vocabulary audio flash-card

No more need for a dictionary

Each story is broken down with a French and English glossary to introduce you to the words and phrases you might not understand. This removes any painful back and forth process of continually searching for definitions or translations.

Ideal for beginner and intermediate level

The stories are written for new French learners, but a basic understanding of French is recommended for maximum enjoyment and effectiveness of the lessons. Perfect for anyone who wants to brush up on their French.

PLEASE NOTE: When you purchase this title, the accompanying reference material will be available in your My Library section along with the audio.

A fun way to study with lots of useful vocabulary!

I’ve been studying French on my own for a few years, and when you’re learning a language on your own without a person to practice speaking and listening with (like your tutor would be), good audio materials are crucial. Otherwise, it’s a waste of time. I found this audio-book very helpful in that aspect. It was a great idea to have both female and male readers for same stories, as taking pronunciation after a male when you’re a female and vice versa makes it a bit uncomfortable. Maybe, it sounds crazy to someone, but that’s how it is for me. I want to say a special thanks to the author for having the vocabulary part voiced as well. It saved me quite some time, as I didn’t have to look up new words in a dictionary. I rate it top and I would recommend it to other people studying French, for this material has plenty of everyday use vocabulary. Not mentioning the stories are fun to listen to.

Company is manipulating feedback

So, I was approached by the publisher/author and offered payment in exchange for a review. I assumed they meant my honest feedback. So I wrote the below review, which I have included in case you actually care about the content of this book. However, my feedback was refused and I was informed in very bad English that they were upset with me and were refusing my further participation, because I put a disclosure at the bottom and because I didn't have 100% good things to say. Basically, they are paying for good feedback and suppressing negative feedback. Don't buy the book!! Much better publishers and content out there.

"The beginning of the book is an explanation in English, heavily-accented. Might be hard to understand for some people. I could understand, but I was annoyed by the small English grammar mistakes - it seems unprofessional.
The book itself is good. Lots of repetition if you want that, and you can skip it if you don't. The French is clearly pronounced. I especially appreciated the version that was read slower, as my French isn't all that great and it helped me understand more. The stories aren't that exciting, but then again, the point is more to learn French than to be entertained by a really great story.
The concept behind the whole thing is sound. As a linguist, I can agree that listening skills are the foundation of learning any new language. Forget about memorizing conjugations and vocabulary - just listen and try to comprehend. You'll be much better off, and you'll learn much faster. This book supports that method of learning.
All that being said, I am not sure why you would buy this book, seeing as how there is so much stuff available for free on the internet. Go to YouTube, watch French videos for free. You don't need to spend money to hear someone speaking a language.

Full disclosure: I was paid to leave my honest review of this product."

Perfect for me.

While the stories are not riveting, they are perfect for my level. Picking up context clues from reading and having the audio so I can hear perfect pronunciation helps enormously. Love this, just what I was looking for.

The stories vary, as do the lessons taught.

The stories vary, as do the lessons taught. This is a very fine gradual advancement to further learning French, appropriate for all more experienced learners.

Ability to “Speak” French quickly.

This was a great book to help me take my French Vocabulary to a new level. Some parts were easy for me but some parts were challenging that required me to take the time to learn new vocabulary. The stories are interesting and allowed me to stay focused to learn the new vocabulary through the context of the stories. This book was a good way for me to continue enhancing my ability to “Speak” French quickly.

Quick listen!

I'm working through this volume more slowly than the Beginner volume I reviewed previously, which is all to the good because it means learning is happening. :) As the first book, this is a collection of stories that were written expressly to reinforce specific grammar and vocabulary points, so occasionally they can feel a little forced, but still, they're a much more fun way to get that additional exposure than just working through a textbook!

Great audio-book.

I'm finding this book to be a good continuation of the first book which is for "beginners." It's a lot tougher, with more advanced vocabulary and grammar. Like the first book, the vocabulary is accessible, by which I mean it's introduced in context, then repeated over and over.

Great for REFINING your French skills!

This book is very well formatted for someone looking to improve their French oral and listening skills. With the stories provided in different versions with normal and slow speed narration, it is perfect for bettering your understanding of French pronunciation, as well as practicing your own pronunciation as you follow along. Also, with the two different speakers, you will improve your listening comprehension skills as you hear the same content spoken by different French speakers.

Overall, a nice way to REFINE your French skills. I would not recommend this to beginners who may find themselves confused or future tourists seeking to learn a few phrases before their travels.

Perfect for intermediate learner.

My French skills seem to be forever basic to intermediate, but one thing that helps me quite a bit is reading at or slightly above my level. These stories are engaging and very readable, yet are using vocabulary that is perfect for learners.

The stories are enjoyable.

The stories are enjoyable and feel more rewarding than translation exercises. The style is immersive, giving you paragraphs with new words and phrases before translating them. I enjoy this style

I really enjoyed this book and what is more import

It integrates vocabulary with different sentences and situations of daily life which allow the reader/student to really understand how to use the words in their context. The book is structured in an interesting way compared to other French learning books. There is a story which catches the reader's attention and the design and layout of the text are easy to look at pleasing.

Excellent job.

A good book for Intermediate leaner. This was an extraordinary method to peruse stories and learn in the meantime. It takes some considering and genuine reasoning about the utilization of words and the request distinction from English. Be that as it may, it is a generally amazing approach to consummate your French.

Quick listen! Good for Intermediate Level.

This book is a great way to learn French. I have studied French before but I learn best when I am fully immersed in a language. This was a great way to read stories and learn at the same time. It takes some studying and really thinking about the use of words and the order difference from English. But it is a very good way to perfect your French.
