Donate body to science. Check.

When 17-year-old Kaitlyn checked the box, she never suspected she'd have her life - and her body - stolen from her. She awakens one day in a secret laboratory to discover that her body is now half robot and is forced to hide her own secret: that she still has human emotions and a human mind. If the scientists who made her find out, they'll erase what remains of who she was.

Kaitlyn finds an unlikely ally in Lucas, a handsome, brilliant scientist who can't get over the guilt he feels knowing she was once a vibrant, beautiful young woman. He never expected a science project to affect him the way she does. As he tries to help her rediscover her past, he finds himself falling for the brave girl struggling to find her place and acceptance between the human and computer worlds.

Unique and beautiful story

I didn’t think that I enjoyed fantasy or romance. Clearly I was wrong because I loved this book. The story is unique, scary, sweet and so interesting! It keeps you on the edge of your seat to find out what will happen next. Eva Kaminsky is a fantastic narrator. I loved the voices she chose for the characters. She made me be able to picture them and truly get a sense of their personality. Great job to both author and narrator!

Romance Novel

Too much Romance....too little plot, character, sci-fi. Could not finish it... Buyer Beware. Not my genre.

I enjoyed it very much! A fun "read"!

It is definitely young adult fiction… I love the simplicity and innocence of the main character even though she's quite complicated. I was very entertained and never upset, which is my goal for stories. A mini vacation!

The narrator was very good, which makes a HUGE difference for me! I have avoided some very good audiobooks because the narrator sucked, I mean was less than satisfactory.

I will tell you that if you're looking for something a little dark, gritty and mature, this is not for you.

I sooooo wanted to enjoy this book

I sooooo wanted to enjoy this book...but I just could not listen to the performance without drifting away. The narrator read way too fast. I finally had to slow down the audio feed to be able to listen to the story.

overall the story was just ok. I will get the next in the series to see if it improves.

It's OK

Was my first book by this author. I don’t want to donate my body after listening to this book. A very pleasant story, however I am not to happy how it ended, it’s not completely left at a cliff-hanger but now I will have to listen to book two to see where things are going. If the book ended before the six-month announcement I wouldn’t have bothered with book 2.

The narration was good, nothing spectacular or bad about it.

I would recommend this book to first time Dystopian listeners and I bet they would love it, as I have listen a few this is very similar or a little lacking to others that I have listened to.

Interesting concept

This is an interesting story of a girl who dies, leaving her body to medical science and is turned into a cyborg that is trained to be the ultimate soldier. Hiding that she still has feelings and desperately trying to cling to, and understand what emotions she has left, we follow Kate as she tries regain her humanity and freedom. The narrator did an excellent job of making us feel her loneliness, confusion, determination and sadness, while at the same time giving a somewhat robotic feel to the character. She give individual voices to all the characters and brought the story to life. I enjoyed this audiobook, even though there were some holes in the plot, and I was creeped out a bit by Lucas lusting after Kate before he even knew she had any feelings.

Solid 4 out of 5

Short and performed to the point. I saw a movie the, "ex machina". It puts me in the mindset of that. its not that. just in that genre

Fantastic

I loved this story when I read it but, hearing it is just awesome! The narrator does a fantastic job, not only with Kate but, with all the characters.

You really feel bad for what Kate is going through. To donate your body to science so no small thing but, I don't think Katelyn had her current circumstances in mind when she did it.

Pretending to be what she isn't (not wholly) so they won't take anything more away from her. They never expected she'd still be "in there".

Heartbreaking and intriguing. Keeps the pages turning.
