Necessary reading <br />

The information I wish I had known before accepting surgery.
Dr. Popper covers the reality of many medical interventions. Side effects of some medical interventions are completely unknown to the patients and they find out only after the fact.

Informative despite controversies

I have enjoyed listening to the discussion in the audible version covering many aspects of the subjects of healthy diet. That happened despite the controversial nature of many points and despite my tendency to disagree with the authors in multiple points. I advised all those interested in the subject of nutrition to listen to it as it helps balancing their views.

Take with a grain of salt

This could have been a helpful book if it had been about nutrition and healthy diets. There is actually some good information here, but more time should have been spent emphasizing the benefits of a plant based diet and less time on conspiracy theories. Just report results, using large randomized reliable studies, not "I always" or "I have seen"... there is way too much antidotal information. Statements like "this is true of all medical physicians" is a broad sweeping statement and causes me to want to discount the content as a whole. I'm not sure what physicians the authors have visited, but they have obviously had some bad experiences. As a family physician, I take great offense in the inference that all physicians are ignorant concerning nutrition and are merely puppets of the government, big industry and are money hungry. Skip this book, there is a lot of good information about plant based diets out there, but this is not one of them.

Wish I read more reviews, or something prior ..

Although interesting in its approach, I wonder why the authors couldn't make it more fact-based, than anecdotal. "Oh yeah, this, this and this, are the solution. Simple." doesn't really convince me of anything. As mentioned elsewhere, there is a business associated with this material thereby making it somewhat biased. Somewhat infomercial-like. Not confident in the material presented as helping much with regaining control over the food we eat. Our food is so toxic, that it goes beyond calories or selection. Would recommend looking at what foods cause inflammation, and why, as an alternate starting point.

Compelling information.

Compelling information about how food impacts our health and how the medical community, agri-big-business and the government ignore these facts. We truly need to be our own advocate and take responsibility for our health.

everyone should read this!

very interesting book, revolutionary, goes against many common misperceptions. a must read! only downside - would have been better narrated by the author than an actor.

Excellent book

This book is well thought through using questions and answers as it's format. I've listened to all of the major players advocating the WPBD and Dr Popper has I feel the most enlightened view on how to engage the public for "their" own good.

I'm no fan of Dr Popper however as audio books go this is probably the best I've listened to on the subject.

OK at first, but then..

At first the book was OK, then it got super weird and then very political. There are much better books on this topic, this one is best to be avoided imo.
