About this listen

I’m in trouble.

A quick and dirty hookup with the hunky mechanic I just met is bad enough.

But when that God-like twenty-year-old turns out to be a student in my English class, I know it’s about to get much worse.

Pax Smith isn’t just the star player on the rugby team at Florence U and the hottest man I’ve ever been with. He also has a dark sordid past, and it’s written in the deep scars all over his face.

Not to mention—he’s in the closet.

Which means I have his secret. And he hates that.

What started as a one-time thing has turned into something neither of us were ready for.

And I’m not ready to let this wounded bully go.

Although this was short, there was enough character development that I found myself caring about our MMCs myself rooting for their HEA. Grayson Owens is a wonderful performer, I found this title because of him.

4.5 starz - worthy of a repeat listen

This book released yesterday as a surprise and I dropped my whole tbr to read it. Sara Cate is a one lick read author for me. Everything she writes is amazing.

I enjoyed this quick MM novella
Pax and Thomas met when Thomas called a tow truck to help with his car. Their relationship was completely unconventional with a big age gap and the “forbidden love” trope. I really enjoyed seeing how Thomas knew exactly what Pax needed even if Pax didn’t or couldn’t voice it. The story was really good and the epilogue just made my heart so happy too 💕

The audio was fantastic for this book as well! I really loved Grayson and the way he narrated both POVs was fantastic!

Loved this book!

Remember Everly and Cullen from "Burn for Me"? Well, in the story, Everly's close friend is Thomas. Due to the injustices he encountered, Thomas decides to leave his journalism job and become an English teacher. One day, when his car breaks down, a young, tall man with a scarred face arrives to help him, resembling a Greek God. After a romantic encounter, Pax shows up in Thomas' classroom as his student. As Pax displays rebellious behavior due to his troubled past, Thomas handles him with patience, yet asserts his authority to break down Pax's defenses. Despite its length, this book is filled with excitement and suspense, so make sure not to overlook it! And hats off to the brilliant Greyson Owens for a top-notch narration!

Grayson Owens is perfection. Such a sweet, hot, quick story; predominantly smut, but it was still great. Loved it!

I’ve read every Sara Cate book I can get my hands on, and let me tell you...Fire and Ash absolutely did not disappoint. From the moment I started, I knew I was in for another steamy, emotionally charged ride that only sara can deliver.

This story had all the elements I’ve come to love in her writing: palpable chemistry, layered characters with complicated backstories, and that slow-burning tension that feels like it might ignite at any second. Sara excels at creating intimacy that’s not just physical but deeply emotional, and Fire and Ash is no exception.

The dynamic between Thomas and Pax? Whew. It was electrifying. Their connection didn’t feel rushed, it built with real depth and longing, and by the time things combusted (pun fully intended), it felt so earned. Sara does such a good job of making you care about the characters individually before you root for them as a couple.

What also stood out to me was how readable (easy to listen in my case) this was. You could easily devour it in a single sitting, and I honestly almost did. It’s got heat, it’s got heart, and it’s written with that signature Sara Cate flair that keeps you turning pages while also pausing to feel every emotional beat.

Every time I pick up one of her books, I think, “Can she keep topping herself?” And yet, Fire and Ash proves she can. If you’re already a fan of Sara Cate, this one will just deepen your love. And if you’re new to her work, it’s a firecracker of a place to start.

Absolutely recommend! and I’m already itching for whatever she writes next.

Another Scorcher from Sara Cate!
