I caught the attention of a savage beast.

My fault–ish after I crashed into Crestwood hockey team's star defenseman on my way to class.

In typical Eli Holmes fashion, instead of walking away after he threw my books across the hall, I stood up to Alexei Petrov.

Even sat right next to him in class, letting him know exactly what I thought of his brutish behavior.

Someone should’ve reminded me not to go around poking monsters.

But I’m not one to cower.

Until a heated encounter leads to a steamy kiss.

Now, I can’t seem to get away from him–at school or in my thoughts.

And his savagery draws out desires I didn’t know I had.

The worst part–even seeing how dark this hockey player is, I can’t stop myself from falling for him.

One way or another, Alexei Petrov is going to destroy me.

Grab your copy of this steamy MM college hockey romance featuring a possessive hockey player, and the feisty art student who crashes into his world. This is a bully romance with dark behaviors, bi-awakening and opposites attract.

Amazing narrators and overall enjoyed the story. I love a good jock/ nerd romance.

Parts of the story were a little meh, like the overall bullying was a bit… idk.. not fitting I guess. But like I said it was a good short story and I enjoyed the narrators.

Possession at its finest

alright so I heard a lot of good things about this book and ill be honest It was good I really liked it and considering the tag I was pleasantly surprised by how lovely the story was. My 4 star review comes from how I felt the story was unfinished... there was so much more of the story I wanted like how Alexi's dad gets dealt with, about how his team reacts, about his NHL prospects. I just feel so uninformed about the rest of their story. maybe the subject will come up in the next books and maybe thats why its missing from this one but I still think that there was so much left unfinished.

I love pet names!

I love the entire book. The fighting. The refusal to acknowledge the sexuality. The giving in. Everything was great. I have reread this book 3 times already. And I will read it again.

The heat

Liam is such a great narrator, I love how we brings out the characters and Joe did an amazing job. this was the first time hearing his narrating and it wasn't bad.

2026 Audiobook Review

After watching hockey in the Olympics I wanted to listen and read some hockey romance and got a lot of these audiobooks in this series in the big last Audible sale so thought it was a great time to catch up on all of them! I do not like one of these narrators on a personal level but I can't deny that he and the other male narrator did a good job with these two. I felt the grump and sunshine dynamic, their personalities shown in the narration. All the rollercoasters of emotions, done very well.

**** Original 2025 Review ****
I accidentally read book 2 before book 1 so I am glad I picked up these books from a book signing earlier in the year so I could catch up on the couple having some airtime in Brutal Savage. I thought they were so adorable in book 2 and was worried they wouldn't live up to the hype if I read their story....was 100% wrong. I loved their story more than Jackson and Killian's story which didnt think it would happen haha.

I liked that there was angst but like not a ton of it (don't get me wrong I like angst but this one felt more genuine because of Eli and his personality and how he leads Alexei in parts of their relationship. I liked how they met, how Eli pushed back and was an enigma to the gruff hockey player haha. I could see them in my head as I was reading, their grumpy/sunshine trope so dang cute and perfect. I loved Alexei had to learn that part about himself and Eli gave him the room to feel whatever he was feeling, to go at his own pace. An amazing partner for him and their relationship just blossomed from there.

I liked their back and forth, their banter and coming togethers were adorable but super steamy. Their chemistry was fantastic. I loved Eli bringing him to his art shows/gallery, Alexei stealing something of his because the thought it was beautiful, their date, Alexie's crazy cousin who is the goalie, and so much more. I can't wait to read more from this series, I already have books 3 and 4 signed by the author so I am trying to not read them all at once haha.

And not to spoil it, but the steam between them is so so SO GOOD! I liked Eli had tendencies to be more of the dominant but he aimed more at letting Alexie figure out what he wanted and when he didnt want it Eli pivoted and went at his pace. The way Alexie dove in was yummy, and couldn't want for them to explore more together (along with their vulnerable moments). Oh and Eli willing to go up against Alexie's scary father was icing on the cake.

I am loving this MM hockey romance. One of my favorite short reads of the year already <3 BTW these animated covers are so cute, I love them on my shelves!

Enjoyed and loved these two!
