Publisher's Summary

Susan Wilson, the best-selling author of One Good Dog, delivers another powerful audiobook of loyalty and love.

Single mom Skye Mitchell has sunk her last dime into a dream, owning the venerable, if run-down, LakeView Hotel in the Berkshire Hills. It's here where she believes she'll give her 14-year-old daughter, Cody, a better life. But being an innkeeper is more challenging than she imagined, and Cody still manages to fall in with the wrong crowd. In addition, Cody is keeping an earth-shattering secret that she's terrified to reveal. The once loving, open girl has now become completely withdrawn, and Skye is both desperate and helpless to reach her.

When Adam March and his pit bull, Chance, check in to the hotel, it becomes the first of many visits. Here in these peaceful mountains he finds an unexpected relief from his recent bereavement. He and the beleaguered innkeeper form a tentative friendship. Adam knows the struggles of raising a difficult teenager, and Skye understands loneliness.

And then there is Mingo, a street kid with a pit bull dog of his own. When Cody discovers an overdosed Mingo, Adam takes the boy's dog not just for safekeeping but to foster and then rehome. But the dog isn't the only one who needs saving. A makeshift family begins to form as four lost people learn to trust and rely on each other, with the help of two good dogs.

    "I waited forever....worth it !"

I waited somewhat patiently for Susan Wilson to write and publish this book. I consistently told all that would listen that "One Good Dog" was my favorite book of all time". This is a significant statement because I consider myself a book addict and a cat person. Wilson did not disappoint me ...I think Chance's story may be complete but I'm not sure...now I have to start waiting again!

    "Great book!"

Absolutely loved it and listened to the entire thing in 2 days. I highly recommend this book and this author for other dog (especially Pit Bull) lovers like myself. It is so nice to see them painted so positively in a story. Thank you for that!!

    "Loved it!"

Loved that Adam March and Chance returned and we found out what they've been up to. Good story, easy listening, easy to put down and pick up the thread again.

    "Sappy but Heartwarming"

All right, so I am a dog lover. I enjoyed this story and the characters. I enjoyed the idea of second chances, of redemption, of the human spirit and yes, I understood the terror of the young girl who had been held hostage by a terrible secret for many years. Sure, I anticipated the conclusion long before the book ended, but nevertheless, a pleasant story. A nice read/listen! Do dogs really think like this? Who knows -- they might, they might not! I thoroughly enjoyed this book and for me, highly recommended!! I think most of like a story where the "good guys" really do come out on top! I know that I did!

    Story
    "Chance Encounters"

Fantastic Followup!!! It can stand on its own, but is all the richer if you've read the previous tale of Chance... A complicated family drama w/ some beautiful interweaving of emotion and anxiety... An honest look at some modern issues w/o proselytizing... The dog stuff is simply delightful, and the way Chance's dialogue and ponderings punctuate the human stories elicit both chuckles and serious consideration... I really love the way Chance uses positive reinforcement methods to modify the behavior of humans around him;). Lucky/Dawg pulls off the straight dog role to perfection, and the two together are formidable... It's a story of second chances all the way around... Moves at a comfortable pace, and the way all the strings are knotted up bringing everything together in a craftily suspenseful climax is utterly satisfying... Narration is very good... Can be enjoyed by those of all ages imho...
