Publisher's Summary

A heart-stirring novel about the joy that comes from finding love in unexpected places by the New York Times and #1 Amazon Charts bestselling author.

Thirteen-year-old Abby Hubble lives in an unhappy home in the Sierra Nevada foothills where her father makes life miserable for her and her mother, Mary. One day Abby witnesses a man dump a litter of puppies into the nearby river. Diving in to rescue all seven, she knows she won’t be able to bring them home. Afraid for their fate at the pound, she takes them to an abandoned cabin, where all she can offer is a promise that she’ll be back the next day.

To grieving widower Elliot Colvin, life has lost meaning. Looking for solace, he retreats to the hunting cabin he last visited years ago, before his wife’s illness. What he discovers is not at all what he expected: seven puppies and one determined girl with an indomitable heart.

As Abby and Elliot’s friendship deepens, Abby imagines how much better her life - and the puppies’ lives - would be if her mother were married to Elliot instead of her father. But when Abby’s father moves the family hundreds of miles away, Abby and her mother must decide how long they’re willing to defer happiness.

Seven Perfect Things is a story about joy, where to find it, how to know it when you see it, and the courage it takes to hang on to it once you have it.

Catherine is an amazing author and I’ve enjoyed all her books so far

Of all Catherine Hyde’s books, this was the most enjoyable for me. I love puppies and people. I’m a widow with grown grandkids and going on 8 great grandkids I’ve always loved kids of all ages. I can’t think of anything better that great grandkids playing with puppies. 😍

I really enjoyed this story

I am an animal lover so stories that evolve animals are always a plus for me. I am a big fan of Catherine Ryan Hyde and recommend her books highly. This story tugged at my heart from the beginning. The characters in her stories are always so real and I was enjoying this story so much that I didn't want it to end. Ms Hyde's books are always well-written and there is always wisdom in her stories.

I was not given this audiobook by anyone and I have voluntarily left this review.

A very pleasant experience

Did not know at all what to expect so no risk of being disappointed. And there isn't anything to be disappointed about, the book flows well, has a message of sorts and even if a bit predictable, holds your interest. For once, the author has been able to create a functional package and not dragging the story line and not making it a sappy survival of a woman in a bad marriage. As a dog person, I did enjoy the way the puppies were brought into the story line. All in all, a good book.

Wonderful as usual

If you are a CRH fan as I am, then you know what to expect, and you will not be disappointed! There is all the trademark warmth, genuine characters who grow in the course of the story, & joy amidst hardship in this latest book. How can you miss joy and warmth in a story about 7 puppies?
I listened to much of the book since I had a lot of driving to do. I did not care for parts of the narration. The voice of Abby was especially irritating, but not so much that I couldn't listen to it. The male narrator, also, was not especially good with female voices. I'm quite particular about narration, so I'm warning other sensitive ears that they may wish to stick with reading the book and skip audio if they can.
So now I'm waiting for December, when this fabulous and talented author has another book coming out!

Another Great Catherine Ryan Hyde Book!

Catherine Ryan Hyde never disappoints! This is another great book with charming characters that you fall in love with. Of course what book isn't amazing when puppies are involved?!
The narrators did a great job as well. A sequel would be great!
