Story
When Sherlock Holmes met his demise in "The Adventure of the Final Problem," published in 1893, the distress of the unsuspecting reading public was profound. For years fans showed no signs of letting Sherlock Holmes lie down and die. Eventually, Doyle saw fit to continue his Holmes' canon and wrote a series of 13 short stories, The Return of Sherlock Holmes, published in 1905.

Story
A rich American is murdered in mysterious circumstances in a manor house in Sussex, England. Sherlock Holmes, accompanied by Dr. Watson, is invited to help the investigation. Though Holmes solves the mystery at hand, his attention and indeed the mystery itself shifts to the coalfields of North America. The heart of the matter is corruption - the date is 1875. Sir Arthur Conan Doyle outs his finger with uncanny accuracy on civil corruption which so blighted North America in that century.

Editorial reviews
Sir Arthur Conan Doyle's The Return of Sherlock Holmes includes 13 Sherlock adventures published at the turn of the 20th century. The first collection after Holmes' alleged death, these tales bring Holmes back, sleuthing with a vengeance. Walter Covell's voice is superbly versatile. He gives each character distinct attributes, from a husky-voiced, mysterious stranger to the deep-voiced British narrator who speaks so smoothly it is easy to enjoy his voice for the full eleven hours. Doyle and Covell work together to make this famous collection a joy for all Sherlock fans.
Publisher's summary
This final collection of Sherlock Holmes stories will have you leaving lights on and checking behind doors.
These tales, first published in the Strand magazine between 1903 and 1905, include:
- "The Adventure of the Empty House,"
- "The Adventure of the Norwood Builder,"
- "The Adventure of the Dancing Men,"
- "The Adventure of the Solitary Cyclist,"
- "The Adventure of the Priory School,"
- "The Adventure of Black Peter,"
- "The Adventure of Charles Augustus Milverton,"
- "The Adventure of the Golden Pince-Nez,"
- "The Adventure of the Missing Three-Quarter,"
- "The Adventure of the Abbey Grange," and
- "The Adventure of the Second Stain."
Critic reviews
"Properly suspenseful, Covell re-creates the awestruck Doctor Watson and the scientific Sherlock Holmes in another of the sleuth's escapades. Covell gives Watson a baronial English accent and renders the unerring Sherlock Holmes in a fittingly aloof, confident tone. To be led through a criminal quagmire by so expert a voice will please any...listener who likes a good mystery." (Booklist)

Jazz Bashara is a criminal. Well, sort of. Life on Artemis, the first and only city on the moon, is tough if you're not a rich tourist or an eccentric billionaire. So smuggling in the occasional harmless bit of contraband barely counts, right? Not when you've got debts to pay and your job as a porter barely covers the rent. Everything changes when Jazz sees the chance to commit the perfect crime, with a reward too lucrative to turn down.

A Review
Basically the stories are great but the guy that does Watson does it with a very rough voice making it very difficult to listen to on a sustained basis. If I could have heard this first I would have never bought it.
