Publisher's summary

As a struggling young attorney fresh out of law school, Renny Jacobson was pining for the day he could afford the fast cars and sprawling homes of the partners in his Charlotte firm. And with news of his father's death and an ancient, secret inheritance, Renny's life was sure to change forever. But the inheritance and membership in the clandestine society which provided it soon threatens to change him in more ways than one. Renny's life, and the life of the woman he loves, depends on supernatural deliverance from the curse of The List.

Deep

I love that the author gets into deeply spiritual things while creating a meaningful story. I believe that many of the things in this story are scriptural. It is still important to remember that this is not scripture, but rather a fictional story of someone's understanding of scripture. The verse: the curse causeless shall not come, among others, gave me concern about some of the story. Mostly it was well written and entertaining, while allowing me to relate the spiritual aspects to my own experiences. So refreshing to read about characters who believe much as you do!

The narrator has a pleasant voice. He does alter his voice for the characters, but some are so close that there's not an appreciable distinction. He does a decent job of acting the parts, although not a sufficient intensity of emotion in some parts.

A Thriller but Not a Legal Thriller

This isn't the author's fault, but many suggested this as a legal thriller in the vein of John Grisham. It's not. The main character is a lawyer but there's not much law or thrill in this one. The writing is decent and plot interesting. Just OK.

Good story, challenging narration

found the narrator hard to listen to at times. all the characters voices sounded the same. was sometimes hard to know who was speaking.

Great novel!

I liked how the power of prayer was emphasized and the reality of spiritual warfare was vividly portrayed.

Not for the reader who is afraid to be spurred

This book starts out a little slow. It does a great job of introducing the characters and setting the scene. The book then derails your comfort zone and has you starting to urge the characters to win or fight or go. Then you realize that you are talking to your cd player and just listen more intently. This book reminded me that I constantly try to enter into great battles alone. I constantly find myself fighting with those that I love instead getting on my knees and equipping a victory.

My favorite to date

I have become a big fan of Robert Whitlow and since reading The List I am even more so. The book itself provides an excellent story. The spiritual side of the book was beyond description!

A deeper look at our walk with God

If you just want entertainment this may not be the book for you, although it is written very well. But it opens a door to a deeper level. I’ve personally been involved in a battle with the evil side within my family. I’ve looked into the eyes of someone controlled by the dark side. This story is very believable.

Engaging and Encouraging!

The tale of entitlement and greed in a Christian’s life is so relatable it almost has to be true! But Whitlow’s description of divine intervention is both convicting and encouraging.
I had a little bit of trouble making out the reader’s words when listening in the car - but other than that, a beautiful performance.
Highly recommend.

Jesus Christ!

Thankful for the focus on the reality of the Spiritual Battle we all face each day. Thankful for the clarity of the Spiritual "Truth" expressed.

Just wish that it was unabridged

Robert Whitlow is a great Christian writer. I always enjoy his books & feel inspired after listening. I've listen to all of his unabridged books on Audible & now I'm going through the abridged titles. I just wish that they all were unabridged because I enjoy his work so much.
