Publisher's summary

"My darling Cecilia, if you’re reading this, then I’ve died...."

Imagine that your husband wrote you a letter, to be opened after his death. Imagine, too, that the letter contains his deepest, darkest secret - something with the potential to destroy not just the life you built together, but the lives of others as well. Imagine, then, that you stumble across that letter while your husband is still very much alive....

Cecilia Fitzpatrick has achieved it all - she's an incredibly successful businesswoman, a pillar of her small community, and a devoted wife and mother. Her life is as orderly and spotless as her home. But that letter is about to change everything, and not just for her: Rachel and Tess barely know Cecilia - or each other - but they too are about to feel the earth-shattering repercussions of her husband’s secret.

Acclaimed author Liane Moriarty has written a gripping, thought-provoking novel about how well it is really possible to know our spouses - and, ultimately, ourselves.

So So

It was ok. There were some parts where my mouth dropped open but it wasn't like that too often. Think this book is overrated in my opinion. BUT that Epilogue...

not bad

absolutely Can. NOT. Stand. the wheedling mushmouth renditions of the children speaking! this is supposed to be a book not Radio Mystery Hour. I think I'm intelligent enough to follow the plot in the characters without the stupid voices

Great, but.....

Although a great story, it was very difficult to follow for the first half or more of the book. Especially when the story jumped into flashbacks.
Author kept on as if everyone already knew who everyone else was! Nonetheless, it was a good storyline.

Great listen for Moriarty fans!

This is the second Liane Moriarty book I've listened to and I was not disappointed. Moriarty presents her characters with real, emotional, and extreme issues while filling their lives with the mundane occurrences, responsibilities, and choices all adults must endure.

I was instantly hooked on the characters and the plot in The Husband's Secret and Caroline Lee's narration adds an additional layer of truth, humor, and authenticity to the story. These two are a great match and I highly recommend this title to any fan of fiction!

Great ending

it took a while for the story to get going but the author has a way with weaving together many stories and surprising the reader at the end.

Loved it!

Would you listen to The Husband's Secret again? Why?

I would consider listening to the Husband's Secret for all the nuances I know I missed.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

Made me question my own relationships....

Any additional comments?

Although it is set in Australia! It might have been in any suburb.

Ripples...loved it!

Any additional comments?

This was the first book I've read by Liane Moriarty and I'm definitely going to read more of her work. I prefer the different perspectives of characters in books rather than an omniscient narrator. Surely, I had my predictions of which way the book would go next, and each time I was wrong, and the epilogue just made it all perfect. Everybody has secrets.Great read!

Highly Recommend This Book

The narrator's accent was enjoyable to listen to as she read her way through the story. The story itself was more than a murder mystery and more than a love story. It was about the what if's in life and consequences of oractions and the regrets we all ponder. The author did a very good job at telling an interesting tale involving many charscters. This was worth the reading.
