From Liane Moriarty, author of the #1 New York Times bestsellers Big Little Lies and Nine Perfect Strangers, comes an unforgettable novel defined by her signature sharp wit, page-turning storyline, and lovable and eccentric characters.

A family secret explodes. A first kiss betrays. A mystery is solved. A marriage is tested. It all happens on one extraordinary night—the Last Anniversary!

Sophie Honeywell always wondered if Thomas Gordon was the one who got away. He was the perfect boyfriend, but on the day he was going to propose, she broke his heart. A year later he married his travel agent, while Sophie has been mortifyingly single ever since. Now Thomas is back in her life because Sophie has unexpectedly inherited his aunt Connie's house on Scribbly Gum Island—home of the famously unsolved Munro Baby mystery.

Sophie moves onto the island and begins a new life as part of an unconventional family, where it seems everyone has a secret. Grace, a beautiful young mother, is feverishly planning a shocking escape from her perfect life. Margie, a frumpy housewife, has made a pact with a stranger, while dreamy Aunt Rose wonders if maybe it's about time she started making her own decisions.

As Sophie's life becomes increasingly complicated, she discovers that sometimes you have to stop waiting around—and come up with your own fairy-tale ending.

I love Liane Moriarty’s characters and storyline’s! I did not like the lifeless reading of this audiobook. The performer has a very lifeless voice and it was hard for me to listen to. I kept thinking that it was like she was trying to read a book to us that had no punctuation so she was unable to use the proper intonation or feeling. Her voice was very pleasant, so there’s that.

Love Moriarty not this reader

The story is just okay. I love Liane Moriarty’s books in the past, and I wouldn’t call this one her best work. But what is an absolute turn off is the performance! I can’t stand the narrator. Honestly, I think the book would’ve been much better if it had a better narrator. I should’ve trust the reviews.

Dreadful performance

Liane Moriarty is my favorite author and I love her books, but I couldn’t listen to more than an hour of this one because of the narrator. Her voice is too flat and she reads sentences without pausing before the next one. It’s like run-on sentences especially when it’s clearly a new paragraph and different topic. Very hard to follow and my fingers are crossed that they will re-record this one (maybe with Caroline Lee reading it (: )

Would be great with a different narrator

I enjoyed listening to this Australian mystery about the Munro baby whose parents disappeared one day and the family that took the baby in and then one of them left her house to her nephew’s ex-girlfriend Sophie who then becomes like a member of the family.
