An Updated Soap Opera ~ But Very Entertaining

My favorites to read are usually Mysteries and Legal Thrillers. I chose this novel based on the reviews and I needed a break from my usual. This novel really held my attention straight through because there was drama (daddy-mama drama and who's sleeping with who) galore! I felt well entertained even though I kept saying aloud "don't do it! are you crazy!" so you kinda knew from early on that things are not going to workout well for the central protagonist. I will criticize the author here because I don't think the central protagonist was developed well enough so that we could really care about her or to root for her. She kept repeating the same mistake and continued to have the excuse of "I made a mistake; it was just a mistake." I can accept making the same mistake over and over when the circumstances are different and you just couldn't see it coming. But to repeatedly make the same mistake in the same way with the same circumstances makes me think that you are just plain stupid.

But again, the story held my attention and I had a few good laughs as well. Pretty much every character - the major and the minor players - had plenty of drama that elevated this story to a good entertaining read. Not to say too much, but the novel had a bit of everything from murder, pedophilia and the resulting mental health issues, to plain ole infidelity. The best scene that I liked was between Gabe and his father. Like I said, there is a lot of drama here, even a reading of a Will with an unexpected outcome!

The narrators were good but it took a minute to adjust my ear to one of the male narrators. His voice had a choppy and overly aggressive tone, but I overcame my bias and quickly started to enjoy his voice.

Never got to a point

Everything was as expected. No twists, no turns. Just like waiting for the clothes in the dryer. You knew they would finish, just a matter of when.

I love this book!

Would you listen to Tell Me No Lies again? Why?

Yes, I would definitely listen to this again. It kept me on the edge of my seat, and I didn't want to miss anything! I may listen to it again just to make sure that I have captured every detail!

Who was your favorite character and why?

My favorite character was definitely Jamie. He is such a deep and passionate character.

What about the narrators’s performance did you like?

I liked that each character was played by a different narrator. It made it easier to create the scenes in your mind, and get lost in the book. Also, I like when you can distinguish who is talking merely by the sound of their voices.

Who was the most memorable character of Tell Me No Lies and why?

Definitely Cheyenne. She was an amazing mother, educated, and compassionate. Yet, she still had her flaws. She was REALISTIC, and was dealing with the pressures and temptations of being an attractive woman.

Any additional comments?

A MUST READ!

Ok read, but very predictable.

Story was ok, however it was sometimes predictable. maybe I have been reading to much of these type books, but the story lines are becoming all to common.

My favorite scene was when Aric set Gabrielle, his best friend up to get his butt kicked by Jamie. I know it sounds harsh, but he had it coming.

No change in the title.

I love the different narrators. I wish more books would have different narrators for the different charactors.

Unsatisfied!!

This story was predictable and filled with drama. I was equally tied up with the characters’ life and really disappointed with the lead characters inability to stay faithful. Each characters flaw was exhibited, but there lacked an ability to resolve their issues. I take that back. Only one person showed a propensity for resolution and that was the mother. She tried to explain to her daughter that she was following the same path and that she should choose differently, but to no avail. This book kept to a crescendo, but never seemed to decrease in the dynamics of the story telling. I am not clear if this book was to have a sequel or if this was the end. I know that I was left bereft and unsatisfied. “AUDIBLE 20 REVIEW SWEEPSTAKES ENTRY”

Chyenne is a damn trip!

This is definitely a page turner. Her hard headedness kept in deep into the story with great anticipation.
