Publisher's Summary

It all begins in Bacon's Corner, a tiny farming community far from the interstate.... An attempted murder, a case of mistaken - or is it covered up? - identity, and a ruthless lawsuit against a struggling Christian school.

Sally Beth Roe, a young loner, a burnout, a kind of "leftover hippie", finds herself caught in the middle of these bizarre events, fleeing for her life while trying to recall her dark past. Across a vast panorama of heart-stopping action, Sally Roe's journey is a penetrating portrayal of our times, a reflection of our wanderings, and a vivid reminder of the redemptive power of the Cross.

The intensity of this best-selling novel comes alive when read by author Frank Peretti. The abridged audio recording includes sound effects and music that brings to life all the excitement and intrigue of Frank Peretti's beloved novel Piercing the Darkness.

If you don't believe!!!!

This story takes you into the unseen world like none other. Frank's vision and insights as he was writing this book could be seen, felt and heard in his reading of this tale that would make for a fantastic Hollywood movie with sequel's that would not disappoint. Well done, well done. Read the book now the audio. Time well spent when shampooing carpets in a liberal college department. Praying Frank's continued anointing and clear vision as he shares what God lays on his heart. And for all who dare to take this journey with him God's gift of Saving Grace.

Another Wow read

I love this author's work. But even more I now love his dramatic reading of his own work. Thought he could not beat the fast paced action of the first novel "This Present Darkness" But he has. Even more excitement packed into this short piece. His reading of his work just makes it more exciting. Bravo!

Best Performance Ever!

The story is good. The narrator is awesome! The only thing I would change is the length. It should be longer and tell more of the story. It is extremely abridged

Very good listen

Definitely a condensed version, and the music can be a bit cheesy, but all in all, I very much enjoyed listening. I recommend reading the book as well, however, because in the condensing, some very interesting parts are left out.

I can't wait to read more of his books. It really painted a spiritual picture of warfare and the value of prayer

Busy in the background

Peretti’s book is so jarring, so trend setting that it spawned a host of lesser iterations, hoping to capitalize on angelic themes. No one’s version compares with this. Frank’s background and research unveil the invisible around us and make heavenly warfare not only plausible, but the stuff of paranoid mysticism that makes for great movies. This is an abridged edition replete with background and sound effects. Listening I thought I was hearing the first attempt at a screenplay. The noise was so busy it distracted from the narrative. Frank Peretti’s performance needed no help. However, the overall was not a wash. When it was over, I got the unabridged version, and I’m about to settle in and go to war for real

Amazing book

Frank Peretti is one of my favorite authors and to hear him read his story is a blessing for sure. You can almost feel the presence of the angels as he reads of their interaction in the story. Get a new view point of the unseen world around us from the mind of this author. We won't know until we reach the other side what really goes on but Frank Peretti does an amazing job of creating a vision of possibility. A must read/listen!

Eye Opener to Spiritual World

Excellently written and narrated by the author. Music, sound effects and character voices brought the whole book to life. It will be great for my kids to see how the two sides of the spiritual world function. Highly recommended!
