Publisher's Summary

He didn't think he had a heart. Until he lost it.

St. Bride's College, Cambridge, England, 1905.

Jonty Stewart is handsome and outgoing, with blood as blue as his eyes. When he takes up a teaching post at the college where he studied, his dynamic style acts as an agent for change within the archaic institution. He also has a catalytic effect on Orlando Coppersmith.

Orlando is a brilliant, introverted mathematician with very little experience of life outside the university walls. He strikes up an alliance with Jonty and soon finds himself heart-deep in feelings he's never experienced. Before long their friendship blossoms into more than either man had hoped.

Then a student is murdered within St. Bride's. Then another...and another. All the victims have one thing in common: a penchant for men. Asked by the police to serve as their eyes and ears within the college, Jonty and Orlando risk exposing a love affair that could make them the killer's next target.

Excellent Mystery! Would Reccommend.

What did you love best about Lessons in Love?

What I loved most about this story was the relationship between Jonty and Orlando. They are so sweet together. I also loved the fact that I did not know who the murderer was until just before the end.

I wasn't the biggest fan of this book, but the plot is good, and the voiceover was smooth. I would read it again, and I'm happy I gave it a chance.<br/>I was given this free copy, in return for my unbiased review

Ruined by narrator

Sweet story ruined by the narrator. Jonty and Orlando are in their late 20's, not last 70's. I thought I could get used to the slow, old voice, but couldn't do it.

Excellent Thriller !!

I was also able to read an advanced copy, and I loved it. Fast paced, witty, fun, touching, and tough all rolled into a story with a hero that you will want to come back to again and again. It made me see that 'wrong' isn't always as it seems, and I look forward to many more nights spent with Charlie Cochrane..

Lessons in Love

Lessons in Love: A Cambridge Fellows Mysteries, Book 1
: Charlie Cochrane

This is the first book in a historical fiction. The setting, early 1900's, St. Brides College, we are presented with a slow developing romance between two of the fellows ( professors) and several murders. Are the two connected? Not a fast paced story, but the descriptions draw the listener into the past and make an interesting listen.

The narration was well done. The characters were well portrayed. Phil Mayes voice was well matched to the book.

sweet romance

This was definitely more sweet than erotic. A bit like M/M written for one's Nana. That said, I liked it. It's a period piece, taking place in 1905, and it feels authentic -- the language, mannerisms, etc. I didn't notice any jarring anachronisms. The narration was very well done.
