Publisher's Summary

Her Father's House is Belva Plain's most powerful and unforgettable novel yet. Donald Wolfe, a young lawyer, arrives in New York City. Idealistic and ambitious, he marries Lillian out of infatuation and little else. Their marriage is shaky, but they have a child, Tina, and for her, Donald would give up everything. When his flawed marriage begins to fail, he must consider a step that would force him into flight and a life of hiding. Tina develops into an exceptional young woman, who at university falls in love with the lawyer Gilbert. Together, they go to New York, where she learns the truth about her family's past, a truth that must change her regard for the father who has protected and cherished her.

Narrator Awful!

I enjoyed the book BUT the narrator was the worst I have ever heard during three years with Audible! After the first half-hour or so she seemed to "warm up" some but it has been a chore to finish this book. Only because the story itself is very good did I continue on!

Book OK, Narrator HORRIBLE

The story line was okay, although plot dragged in many places and the narrator was absolutely HORRIBLE!

Listen to the sample!

Karen White is one of the worst readers I have ever heard. Wait for a better narrator or just read it for yourself.

didnt get very far into the book.

What disappointed you about Her Father's House?

the narrator..

What do you think your next listen will be?

Belva Plains is still high on my list, but I will pick another narrator or take a closer listen to the sample play.. I have listened to that narrator before and it was ok

How did the narrator detract from the book?

just couldn't enjoy it. it was slow but 1.25 wasnt good either,

If you could play editor, what scene or scenes would you have cut from Her Father's House?

I didnt get very far into the book. Probably a good book. just not a good narrator
